Tip of the Month
 New Web Class Learning
Opportunity for Hearing Screening!

The ECHO Initiative is excited to offer a new, interactive Implementing Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) Hearing Screening and Follow-up Web Class to prepare early care and education providers to provide quality hearing screening to young children. This Web Class series will consist of four, live, web-based sessions lasting approximately 60 minutes each, along with skill-based assignments that allow participants to practice the concepts covered during the presentations. The next class series will be offered on:

Dates:  October 17, 20, 24, 27
Time:  1:00 pm Eastern,  12:00 Central, 11:00 Mountain, 10:00 Pacific

This practical, hands-on skill-development class is intended for individuals working in programs that are committed to providing OAE hearing screening to the young children they serve. By the end of this Web Class, participants will be able to:
  1. Plan and implement an OAE hearing screening program.
  2. Explain how OAE screening works.
  3. Conduct OAE screenings on young children.
  4. Outline the necessary follow-up steps when a child does not pass the screening.
  5. Access resources for tracking children through the screening and follow-up protocol.
  6. Access additional tools and resources that support successful hearing screening program quality improvement.
There is no cost for the Class, but participants will need to have functional OAE screening equipment and access to young children for screening practice.  Advance registration is also required.  We would encourage programs to have more than one individual attend the Class series to maximize practice and retention of material.  Individuals who attend all sessions and complete all assignments will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Detailed information and a registration link can now be accessed on the KidsHearing.org website. Take full advantage of this new, interactive learning opportunity!
