2016 Lifetime Achievement Award
to Nanci Liles, Executive Director, Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The Lifetime Achievement Award
honors an individual who has dedicated his or her life to the betterment of Texas travel and tourism through a body of work over many years, and whose dedication has made a lasting and important contribution to the industry.
Nanci has passionately led the Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau team for more than 31 years after spending her first three years in the industry with the Midland Chamber of Commerce. Nanci has served as Chair of both TACVB and TTIA. Her first day as Chair of the TTIA Board was on the fateful 9/11 in 2001.
"Nanci is an integral part of TTIA and the Texas travel industry. She became Chair of TTIA's Board on 9/11, and from that date forward, with her leadership, members of the TTIA community became more resilient and more unified," said David Teel, President & CEO. "She has held an advisory position on TTIA's Board for many years and has helped TTIA to evolve into the association it is today."
Nanci has also impacted the travel industry statewide.
Ask any member and they will tell you she is a mentor & leader in the industry. As Trish Dressen, Abilene CVB's Director of Communications said recently,
"If you wonder why there are state maps available in all visitor centers, you can thank Nanci."
As further evidence of Nanci's impact on travel in Texas,
she was honored by TTIA in 2008 with the prestigious
Tall in Texas
Award.
