I hope you had a chance to catch our Render unto Caesar webcast or the radio series in Spanish this past week. If not, you can watch and share the webcast here and the podcast of the radio show here. And be sure to tune in next week for the next installment:
Also next week is the deadline for an important action alert to comment against experimenting on human embryos by Tuesday. Read more and respond here.

With the close of summer upon us, we are in full swing planning the fall  40 Days for Life campaign . The Dallas vigil will begin September 28 through November 6 (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at the  Planned Parenthood abortion facility We still need churches and groups to sponsor a day or block of hours during the vigil. Please contact Dallas Campaign Director Susan Platt at  40days@prolifedallas.org  or 214-392-7545 to adopt a day for your parish or church group. ( Click here to view adopted and available days .) And be sure to save the date for the Kickoff Rally on September 27.  More details coming soon and available at prolifedallas.org/40days

There will also be three great opportunities to support our pro-life ministries this fall:

First our annual CPLC Golf Classic Tournament on September 12. There is still room for players and sponsors.  Check out the details here.

Second,  North Texas Giving Day on September 22 is the day our community gets up to give to their favorite causes.  We would greatly appreciate your support to reach our $30,000 goal this year ; you can donate here  between 6 a.m. and midnight on September 22 (gifts of $25 or more are eligible for bonus funds!) . We will be kicking off a special online campaign in advance of the day called "Love Matters" -- so keep an eye out!

And of course, you don't want to miss the ever-popular Christ Child Christmas Market and Luncheon on November 19 at a new location - Doubletree in North Dallas near the Galleria.  Tickets for the luncheon featuring Fr. Edwin Leonard of St. Monica are now available here. This event benefits the two new maternity homes -- Bella House and Mater Filius -- as well as CPLC ministries.

Please also be sure also to mark your calendar for the following additional events this month:
And of course Respect Life Month  comes in October!
Your pastor should soon be receiving the USCCB Respect Life Program packet for your parish; I encourage you to make an appointment to sit down with your pastor to walk through the packet and determine what resources would best suit your parish. USCCB resources for
Respect Life Month may also be found online here  (and linked in the sidebar at left).

On October 15, the diocesan-wide, bilingual  Respect Life Mass  will be a celebrated by Bishop Greg Kelly at 8 a.m. at  St. James with a special blessing for all Respect Life staff and volunteers (that means you and your pro-life group!). The Mass will be followed by Eucharistic Adoration and a Rosary Procession  by bus to the 40 Days for Life Midway Rally outside  Planned Parenthood abortion facility. The rally  begins at 9:30 a.m. with ecumenical and bilingual prayers, music and inspirational speakers. The rally will also include a "pack the truck" drive for diapers and canned foods to benefit local pregnancy and community resource centers.  Please spread the word!

Also in October is the second annual  Proyecto José Day of Healing  for men in Spanish on October 8, and the next  Rachel's Vineyard Retreat  in English  follows on  November 11-13 .

In September, we also celebrate the birth of Mary the mother of God on the 8th. Although Scripture does not give us an account of it, her birth is celebrated on this day which is nine months after the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. We can see every human birth as a call for new hope in the world. The love of two human beings has joined with God in his creative work. This new child has the potential to be a channel of God's love and peace to the world.

This is true in a magnificent way in Mary. If Jesus is the perfect expression of God's love, Mary is the foreshadowing of that love. If Jesus has brought the fullness of salvation, Mary is its dawning.
Let us continue to pray for the intercession of Mary, God's mother and our mother, so that she may help us to touch the hearts of all those mothers and fathers who are considering abortion. Also let us ask Mary for healing for those who have already made that decision.

Thanks for all you do for life, and God bless!
