Inner Perceptions, Outer Reflections
April 7 - May 12 |
716 N. Wells Street
,
Chicago
Reception:
Thursday April 7, 5:30-9pm
In a contrarian break from formal academicism, Blake Ward challenges
the classical figure by evoking a dialogue between our internal and external selves, illustrating his contemporary approach to figurative sculpture.
Blake Ward's quarter life-size, partial figures materialize before us, seductive and tragic, their perfect proportions reflecting the hidden perspectives of our human condition. The textured exterior surface alludes to the complexity of our individuality, the
open, exposed interior eliciting introspection.
