Spokane Infill Development
|
Spokane was recently recognized by Infill Score as a friendlier city than others its size for Spokane's range of housing choice.
As preferences for a more diverse supply of housing and travel choices continue to increase, the City of Spokane recognizes that it must prepare to meet increasing demands for new forms of housing that implement goals and polices found in the City's Comprehensive Plan.
This is why the City has called upon a varied group of stakeholders representing local residents, non-profit organizations, housing financiers, for-profit developers and others to review the City's current housing development tools.
You can add your voice by taking a short survey.

Our Downtown - "R" Downtown
|
LUNCH DOWNTOWN NEXT WEEK!
Your SAR and the Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) announce a new initiative to help downtown restaurants survive road construction along Lincoln and Monroe streets: Our Downtown - "R" Downtown.
The SAR encourages all REALTORS® and affiliate members of the association to have lunch downtown next week, September 6-9.
At the end of the week, we challenge the Spokane Homebuilders Association to encourage its members to lunch downtown the week of September 12-16. Following their week, the Homebuilders will challenge Spokane County and City government to encourage its employees to lunch downtown the week of September 19-23. Professional organizations will continue to be challenged through the end of construction season this fall.
Enjoy lunch downtown with a client or friend next week and support this initiative. Watch the Weekly Notices and local media for updates as Our Downtown - "R" Downtown makes a positive impact on local businesses.
Visit futurespokane.com for updates on construction projects.
Businesses are suffering in downtown Spokane construction zones, and the city is asking the public to help out with their spending power.
Ava Haase bought the Next Door cafe at Lincoln Street and Riverside Avenue last December and is struggling to get through a summer of construction work surrounding her shop.
Haase said business is down by more than half. Her regular customers haven't been venturing out to cross streets that are torn up, but she still needs their support.
"Come eat some sandwiches," she said.

UAS Cleared for Take-off
|
It became legal, this week, to fly a small Unmanned Aerial System (UAS, or drone) in the United States for commercial use or incidental to a business (i.e. real estate photography) without a pilot's license.
See the historic FAA news release online here.
In addition to passing an aeronautical knowledge test, registering your aircraft, and complying with certain flight rules, one must request permission from the FAA each and every time before you can fly in any controlled airspace - which is most anywhere in Spokane County. Permissions can take up to 90 days to process.
Request a waiver/airspace authorization online here.
Visit the FAA's UAS Getting Started website, online here.
