It's official: Matsiko is in LOVE with America's Mid-West and North-Eastern regions! On tour since April, Matsiko has had some amazing experiences! Wonderful host families who have housed the children are now loved dearly and will be remembered forever. Everywhere we go, the children see how amazing the people of the USA truly are! Here is a brief look at what we've experienced so far.
April
 We kicked off our 2016 Matsiko World Orphan Choir tour travelling through Eastern Washington, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota and into Wisconsin. Matsiko was honored to perform at the grand opening of a new multi-million dollar performance center in Watford, ND. The most amazing site for the kids to see was Mt. Rushmore, and many of them wondered if the people on the mountains were there naturally!
May/June
May and June took us through Wisconsin and into Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts. The children had a ball visiting the Football Stadium at the University of Wisconsin, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, many Civil War Sites, NFL Football Hall of Fame, Louisville Bat Company and the Cincinnati Symphony. Highlights were visiting New York City and experiencing roller coasters for the first time at Cedar Point!
July/August
July and August took us through the New England states. We were absolutely in awe of the area as we continued our journey
through Massachusetts and into Maine, Rhode
Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. We were absolutely blown away by the welcome we received in each of these states. We explored historical sites
in Boston and Philadelphia, a beach party in
Rhode Island,
the wonder of Niagara Falls and the rocky coast of Maine.
We have gained an appreciation for much of America's history, and we enjoyed performing in several historical churches, including the church where Ben Franklin was baptized, the church where Betsy Ross was married, and churches that each of our Founding Fathers visited.
Looking Forward
We are looking forward to the rest of this amazing Matsiko Tour! We are excited about our upcoming visits to the White House and Capitol, visiting our Senators and Congressmen in Washington, DC and being part of a Congressional Tour. Since schools are back in session, we are anticipating the opportunities we will have to share our message of HOPE and enthusiasm for education with youth across America. And of course, we are counting down the days until we get to perform at Disney World!
