Free training day on PROFIBUS, PROFINET and IO-Link
Manchester, 9th November
This free-to-attend seminar addresses the key practical issues arising from the use of digital communications technologies in automated manufacturing and process industry applications  and of course, Industrie 4.0 and The Industrial Internet of Things.
Covering the use of PROFIBUS, PROFINET and IO-Link in key application areas such as  electrical and electronics assembly, robotics, automotive engineering, mechanical handling and logistics, control systems and energy management,  p ulp & paper, chemical, utilities, pharmaceutical, packaging and printing, it focuses on the practical aspects of advanced digital communications from system design and safety considerations through to maintenance and fault-finding.

CERTIFIED PROFIBUS AND PROFINET TRAINING COURSES
Certified Products & People Logo
PI UK supports certified training run by our two PITCs, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and Verwer Training & Consultancy Ltd (VTC). Both organisations are authorised by PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) to deliver PI's certified courses leading to internationally-recognised accreditation as Certified PROFIBUS or PROFINET Engineers or Installers.

Certified PROFIBUS Installer
An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFIBUS networks including DP, PA and optical fibre technology. Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

Next courses:
Oct 24, Location: Manchester, Provider: VTC
Nov 7, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
PROFIBUS Commissioning & Maintenance Course
A one-day course designed as an add-on to the Certified PROFIBUS Installer Course, covering the practical techniques of faultfinding on "operational" PROFIBUS networks. Techniques taught on the course include the use of a modern PROFIBUS analyser, Class 1 and Class 2 master functions (engineering tool) to diagnose network faults, device faults and I/O problems. Students also learn how to diagnose and accurately locate cable, connection and device faults.
Certified PROFIBUS System Designer
This course is aimed at anyone who is dealing with the design, specification or procurement of modern automation and control systems at the engineering or technical level.  The course is also suitable for device manufacturers, system integrators and technical sales/marketing people who want to know the best way to put systems together. The course is aimed at the professional engineer level and a basic familiarity with control system terminology and the ability to perform simple engineering calculations is assumed.

Next courses:
Oct 28, Location: Manchester, Provider: VTC
Nov 28, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course
This is an in-depth course covering PROFIBUS DP and PA network operation, design, commissioning and live fault-finding. The course covers basic cyclic data exchange (so-called DP-V0) and DP-V1 extensions that are used in PA devices and more complex DP devices. Most of the course is involved with understanding and interpreting the various telegrams that pass between devices. It is a world-wide recognised training program, standardised by PROFIBUS International.  The Certified PROFIBUS Installer and the Commissioning & Maintenance courses are essential pre-requisites to attending this course.

Next course:
Nov 29, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
Certified PROFINET Installer
An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include industrial ethernet installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFINET networks and will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

Next courses:
Oct 19, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
Nov 28, Location: Reading, Provider: VTC
Certified PROFINET Engineer
This training course provides a detailed technical knowledge of the PROFINET technology and the advantages it offers your automation and production processes. At the end of the training there will be a theory exam. Participants who pass get the title Certified PROFINET Engineer and are awarded an official certificate. Successful participants will have the confidence to evaluate PROFINET as a solution for their automation requirements and be able to design a proper application.

Next courses:
Oct 19 (or 20 if already attained CPNI), Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
Nov 28  (or 29 if already attained CPNI), Location: Reading, Provider: VTC
ON-SITE CERTIFIED TRAINING FOR 6 OR MORE PEOPLE
If you've got a group of 6 or more to train, then you might be interested in having a course delivered at your own premises.  The UK is well served with fully-accredited training facilities, with two organisations able to deliver these courses on-site, The Ascent Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and Verwer Training and Consultancy (VTC).

Network Diagnostics Roadshow comes to Manchester
Senior PI UK member Hitex is hosting a free 1-day workshop covering both PROFINET and PROFIBUS diagnostics in Manchester on 13th October.

The agenda will have 2 main focuses: the morning will look at PROFIBUS: the basics, tools and techniques for diagnostics and the afternoon will cover the same topics but for PROFINET. Throughout the day Hitex's automation expert Dave Tomlin will be on hand to talk about any issues you may have and how to keep your network in top condition. As anyone involved with keeping an industrial network up and running knows, this is a never-ending task - a little like painting the Forth Road Bridge!

While they will be looking at solutions for permanent monitoring, diagnostics and installation, they will also be covering general best practice advice so you gain maximum benefit from attending.

Additionally, the agenda will be brought to a close with a dedicated Q&A session to ensure you have the chance to start to resolve any specific issues and get the most possible from your time at the event.

CERTIFIED OPC TRAINING - London and Manchester
With OPC UA (Unified Architecture) now specified alongside PROFINET and IO-Link as a main building block for Industrie 4.0, the need for  certified OPC training is even more essential for anyone involved in the development, implementation and operation of systems in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

If you would like to learn about OPC UA and get Certified as an OPC Professional, during October there will be an opportunity for hands-on  Certified OPC Professional training provided by the highly respected, vendor-independent OPC Training Institute.

The training provides an in-depth study of OPC technology, its DCOM backbone, required security settings, and a lot of practical hands-on troubleshooting techniques and exercises. It is presented as 4 separate modules over the course of a week, each lasting 12 hours. Subject to ability and availability, students can opt to take 1 or more of the modules.

Next courses:
Oct 24 - 28, Locations: Manchester or London
*** Also available as "Remote" training via internet ***
