Welcome and Welcome Back!
I hope you all have had a fantastic summer filled with fun and relaxation. I am really excited to see everyone in the studio again, dancers dancing, families chatting, teachers teaching. I love the energy at Ballare!
This is going to be a great year. We have set some big goals, and want you to know that our mantra is
'Together We Develop Great Dancers'
. This mantra will show itself in many different ways this year. One important way is when we say 'together' we mean the whole Ballare community. Teachers, administrators, parents, siblings...we are all here to support dance education and make it the best it can be. We are looking forward to a continued relationship in dance education.
One thing that is very important to me and all of us at Ballare is communication. Please make sure you read these newsletters, and share them with family members who may be bringing your dancer to and from the studio. Also, make sure you follow Ballare on Facebook and Twitter, so you can keep abreast of all the latest happenings. I don't want anyone to feel out of the loop!
To that end, please put the week of
September 26-October 2
on your calendar. That is our
Parent Meet and Greet
. Parents will come into class and we will go over our studio handbook so you can be in the know and ask questions. This short meeting (about 10-15 minutes) is also a great chance for you to meet your teachers!
On a final note - I am very excited to announce our student performing company The Company B!! The company rehearses on Sunday evenings under the direction of Timothy Herian and Sarah Hauss. Congratulations to the following dancers for their outstanding commitment to dance performance:
Maggie Cheng
Hazel Cutting
Priya Dalal-Whelan Emily Davidson Bryn Farmer Ingrid Fellows
Gavin Kimmel Amelia Kroesch
Violet McMahon Joy Meyers
Azalea Rohr Brigham Williams Emily Williams Paige Yanny
Looking forward to seeing you all next week!

Come Meet Your Teachers at Parent Information Night; September 26th-October 2nd 2016!
We will be having a parent Q&A the week of September 26th-October 2nd. We would like to have all of our students' parents in attendance to go over our expectations regarding attendance, absences, tuition, attire and a chance to answer any questions you may have.
This will be a quick meeting, but a great chance for you to meet your teachers and ask any of your burning questions like: What should my child wear to class? What is Isabella Saves the World? Should their hair be pulled back? When do you start working on recital dances? etc.
** For our Level II, III, IV and V families this will be your chance to sign-up for your Ballare family volunteer slot.
Ballare shows run very smoothly, and it is because of the parents that volunteer behind the scenes! We will need each family to sign-up for at least one volunteer opportunity throughout the year. This will include help with The Excellent Adventure, Picture Day, End of the Year Dress Rehearsal, End of the Year Recitals, etc. Families in level II, III, IV & V will sign-up during Parent Information Week Sept 26th-Oct 2nd, 2016. Families in Fundamental and level I classes may also sign up to volunteer for the recital at this time.
**Warning**
If you are not there we will sign you up for what is left! : )
See you then!

Tap Into Nutrition- by Julie McMahon, CHHC
Tap into Nutrition
By: Nutrition Julie
Wrap them, dip them or blend them up! Not your kids....your veggies!!
We know our kids need lots of fresh veggies but how can we get them in? Some kids love all the different tastes, colors and textures, but then there are those that don't. Please don't worry if you have a picky eater, just be consistent, keep it light and fun, and eventually their palettes will expand to love all the different tastes. Believe me, I know, I used to be a picky eater when I was a kid and now I'm a nutritionist who loves all the different foods.
Here are a few strategies to try as the school year begins and you need ideas for lunches and snacks!
Wrap them!
There are so many wonderful kinds of wraps available at the grocery store....sprouted grain, wheat, rice, gluten-free, or flavored ones like spinach or sun-dried tomato. Wrap up your favorite lunch meats, cheeses, lettuce and tomato OR go all veg if your kids are up for it. A favorite here is a BLT wrap or a black bean, lettuce, tomato.
Dip them!
Kids love to play with their food and dipping is fun! Use a number of small containers to make the lunch box more fun. Fill with nut butters, or hummus and provide lots of things to dip like carrot, celery and jicama sticks or apple slices and pita chips.
Blend them!
Okay, for those of you who know me, you know that I love to blend up veggies into a green smoothie! It doesn't have to be difficult, just put in a handful of spinach or other baby greens along with some frozen berries and unsweetened almond or coconut milk. Toss in a little protein powder if you like. This is perfect for the teens who say they just aren't hungry for breakfast. This gets them out the door with what they need to start their day!
Best to you and your families as we begin another year of school and dance!
