Celebrate a wild bounty

Washington's Pacific County is renowned for its cuisine, and autumn offers the perfect opportunity to honor a local favorite: wild mushrooms. The annual Wild Mushroom Celebration is Oct. 1 - Nov. 15 and features mushroom-themed dining and activities, as well as special room rates for fungi fans. Events are spread throughout the six weeks, so there's plenty to chose from. Keep an eye on the event website as activities are added.

September fun on the LBP

September starts with a bang as Come Play on Labor Day in South Bend kicks off the fun Sept. 2-5. The good times continue through the month's last weekend when Blues & Seafood returns to the Port of Ilwaco Sept. 23-24. What's in between? Quite a bit:
Enjoy a pint of North Jetty Brewing beer any time of the year.
Two Oktoberfests: Double the fun

Oktoberfest on the Long Beach Peninsula is so nice it's celebrated twice. The Seaview Oktoberfest put on by 42nd Street Cafe and North Jetty Brewing is Sept. 17 and the Chinook-style Oktoberfest is Oct. 15. Both events are fantastic and each one puts its own touch on the traditional celebration.
The Long Beach Peninsula is one of the country's premier cranberry growing regions.
Cranberrian Fair is coming

The Cranberrian Fair on Oct. 8-9 at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco celebrates one of the Long Beach Peninsula's most cherished crops.  The fair features crafts, vendors and food, including the ever-popular cranberry-peach pies. Craft demonstrations include rug hookers and a blacksmith.
