Interactive Missouri Airport Map provides quick information
Pilots can view details on Missouri's 123 public airports
Pilots in Missouri can now access information on Missouri's 123 public-use airports on a new interactive map from the Missouri Department of Transportation. The interactive map displays the locations of the airports, and users can click on the airport icon to pull up detailed information. The information includes an aerial view of the airport and a PDF of detailed information about the landing facility as well as local area attractions and services.
"Missouri is pleased to provide this new interactive map as a valuable, quick-reference resource for pilots," said MoDOT Multimodal Director Michelle Teel. "Pilots can click on the map and go directly to that specific airport's information instead of having to look through our entire directory."
Missouri's airports contribute more than 100,000 jobs with an overall payroll of $3 billion to the state's economy. When all economic activities are considered, total annual economic output of Missouri's system of airports is estimated approximately $11 billion. No work zones planned over Labor Day weekend
Use MoDOT's traveler information map to check road conditions
 All construction work on state routes in Missouri will stop starting Friday, Sept. 2 at noon for the Labor Day holiday weekend. Some work zones have permanent lane closures and barriers will remain in place this weekend. Some of the major permanent lane closure work zones include Interstate 70 at Fifth Street in St. Charles, Interstate 44 in the City of St. Louis and the Route 54/63 Missouri River bridge construction in Jefferson City. Work will resume Tuesday, September 6 at 9 a.m. For the locations of all state work zones, please check MoDOT's Traveler Information Map.
Motorists should pay attention to all signing, follow the posted speed limits, and take turns merging every other car, like a zipper, where lanes are closed. Always wear safety belts and be alert for slowed traffic, narrowed lanes or a reduced number of lanes. Many of these work zones may cause congestion and traffic delays especially during the peak travel times including Friday evening and Monday afternoon.

The map also displays current traffic speed conditions and live camera views. Motorists can also call MoDOT's 24/7 customer service toll free at 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636).

Teen safety belt usage on the rise!
Several statewide programs help promote usage.
 The 2016 Missouri Teen Safety Belt Survey is complete. The safety belt usage for all teenage drivers and teenage front seat passengers combined was 70.4 percent. This is a 1.4 percent increase when compared to 69 percent in 2015.
"We're very excited to see these numbers go up," said MoDOT Youth Program Coordinator Kacey Buschjost. "Teenagers are our most inexperienced and vulnerable drivers, so it's vital that they, and all drivers, be buckled up every trip, every time."
The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety promotes several programs to educate young drivers on the importance of roadway safety. The following programs can attribute to the increase in safety belt usage in Missouri.
First Impact is a traffic safety program that educates parents about Missouri's Graduated Driver License (GDL) law and provides the tools they need to monitor, coach and support their new teen driver. Missouri GDL law is a three-step licensing system. The purpose is to ease teens into licensure so that they can build skill in an environment that minimizes those things that are shown to cause the greatest risk for new drivers. Research confirms that GDL laws have been instrumental in reducing teen crashes by 20 to 40 percent.

Remember to drive sober or get pulled over!
The drive sober or get pulled over high-visibility operation runs through the holiday weekend, ending Sept. 5. Missouri State Highway Patrol will continue their year-round efforts of enforcing Missouri's DWI laws.
During the Labor Day holidays from 2010 to 2015, over 750 people died in drunk driving crashes.
