Greetings from the Executive Director!

The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce (GVACC) had a very exciting month of August. The political forums hosted during the month of August went very well. Thank you to the candidates that participated in the City of Lafayette, City of Lanett, City of Valley, and the Chambers County race. I would also like to thank everyone that helped make the forums possible. 

The GVACC is looking forward to the upcoming Annual Meeting to be held on September 15, 2016, at the King Ford Showroom. Please click here for more details and to register for this event. We are excited to highlight all the Chamber's accomplishments for this past year and even more excited to share what is to come for our new fiscal year! The registration deadline will be Thursday, September 9th.

Chamber  Announcements and Updates

Chambers County EMA/ E-911 announces FEMA Weather App Available

FEMA has a free weather app that can be downloaded to smartphones and other smart devices. The app is another means of receiving weather alerts from the National Weather Service.

The app allows users to receive updates on up to five U.S. locations and emergency safety tips are included in each weather alert. 

The FEMA App is available for free download from the App Store and Google Play.

September 13th - 20th Anniversary Celebration for Kenny Knox Tire
Kenny Knox Tire will be celebrating 20 years. Come out and celebrate on September 13th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. EST.

Please join Chamber Members for a relaxing, enjoyable evening and spend time with fellow members as well as hear an update on Chamber activities, plans and goals for fiscal year 2017.

The Chamber will have fun and festivities at our Annual Membership Meeting. We are excited to announce that Alabama Avenue will be in attendance for our Annual Membership Meeting. The University of Alabama will be hosting their second annual Service Member to Civilian summit. The summit is an opportunity for civilian employers, community-based organizations, family and children, and higher education to learn more about service members transitioning back into civilian life throughout our communities.  For more information click on the title above.

NEMAK located in Sylacauga will be closing their doors on September 29, 2016. The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a job fair on October 6, 2016, and is asking for any businesses within a 75-100 mile radius that may be interested in participating in the job fair to please contact them.   For more information click on the title above. 

October 15th and 16th - Third Annual Native American PowWow
The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the upcoming Native American PowWow. Please mark your calendars! We hope to see you there!

Sheri L. Gaddy, GVACC Board Member
Valley Business Office Manager
Alabama Power Company

Sheri Gaddy is the Manager of the Valley Business Office, which has a customer base of approximately 12,000.
 
Sheri joined Alabama Power in 1996 as Customer Service Representative in the Montgomery Business Office and has held various positions of increasing responsibility within Alabama Power Company.
 
Sheri attended Troy University at Montgomery, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  Sheri has worked in the Montgomery Business Office, Southern Division Executive Office, Valley Business Office, Division Accounting in Eufaula, Abbeville Business Office and most recent the Customer Service Organization as Business Office Manager in Valley.
 
Sheri was born in Wetumpka, Alabama.  She graduated from Oswego High School, Oswego, New York.  She is married to Jeff Gaddy of Montgomery, Alabama and they currently reside in Lanett, Alabama.
 
Sheri is an active member of the Region 5 Workforce Development Council.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce.  Sheri formerly served as Project Manager for Gov. Bob Riley's Black Belt Action Commission Infrastructure Committee.  The Infrastructure Committee was awarded and received The Center for Government Innovative Team Award.  She also formerly served on the City of Montgomery Blue/Gray Football Classic Board.
 
Sheri enjoys cooking, traveling, gardening, hiking in the mountains and is an experienced whitewater rafter.
