It's Alright To Cry

Maybe some of you remember
                          a song we learned as children:

"It's alright to cry, crying gets the sad out of you,

It's alright to cry, it might make you feel better.

It's alright to feel things,
           though the feelings may be strange,

Feelings are such real things,
            and they change and change and change."

 

Tears actually help flush harmful hormones from our bodies.

The chemical composition of tears cried when you are grieving is very different than tears you cry if get a speck in your eye or tears that daily lubricate your eye.

If you have ever grieved the loss of a pet, crying may have been a large part of your body's response. Grief causes many types of changes within us, not just our broken hearts but physiologic responses as well.

Let yourself cry, let yourself remember, let yourself feel the loss-it is real.
