The Colorado Genealogical Society Presents:

Using Third Party Tools and Databases for Genetic Genealogy @ Denver Public Library

Regardless of where one has DNA tested or what they hoped to learn, there are many third-party tools that often help to expand the tester's knowledge, beyond the tools that are provided by the testing companies.

These third-party tools are often developed by volunteers who are passionate about genetic genealogy, and many are free.

Some were created for a very narrow purpose, while others are broad in application. The tools may range from analysis functions to organizing mass amounts of information, and often provide a different view or insight into the tester’s results.

With any third-party tool a tester may choose to use, it is prudent to read the terms and conditions to be aware of how the data may be used or accessible by others in the public.

The course will be taught by Deena Coutant.  Deena is passionate about creating family legacies that connect the past, present and future generations, through stories, photos or by uncovering the DNA of those ancestors who were previously lost to history. As a full-time professional researcher, genetic genealogist and photo organizer, she provides strategies to help her clients successfully discover, celebrate, share and properly preserve their families’ memories, leveraging modern technology to bring them from the obsolescence of the past into the digital age. Deena offers a unique blend of preservation services through her company, DigiDeena Family Heritage Solutions.
