Congratulations to all Triathletes!
More than 9,000 athletes congregated in Chicago last weekend to compete in the 34th annual Transamerica Chicago Triathlon, the nation's largest triathlon. Athletes represented 46 states and 18 countries, and 49 percent of them were Chicago residents.

Throughout the weekend was the Multisport and Fitness Expo, the Life Time Kids Tri, the Chicago Triathlon SuperSprint, and the International and Sprint distances of the Chicago Triathlon. Despite a little bit of rain on Saturday, the weekend brought great conditions for racing, and there were a lot of good things that happened.

Chicago Athlete just wants to say congrats to everyone who competed, and we'll see you all out there next year! Registration for the 2017 Transamerica Chicago Triathlon opens in October.

Rapha Cycling Apparel
to Bring Largest Store
to Chicago
Wicker Park will soon be home to the 11th, and largest Rapha cycling apparel store in the world.

After a successful pop-up shop last year, Rapha will open at 1514 N. Milwaukee Ave. in October.

"Chicago is a world-class city and a world-class bike city, and we're really psyched," Quirk says.
Now, there are 10 Rapha's worldwide, including one in both New York and San Francisco. Quirk plans to have eight U.S. stores by the end of 2017.

Because the Chicago store will be the biggest yet, the entire apparel collection will be displayed. The collection consists of a range of city clothing that can be worn both on and off a bike.
CARA's Free Timed Runs Come Back This Fall
After implementing them this summer and seeing much success, the Chicago Area Runners Association has scheduled more 'Go Runs to occur in the city this fall.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings between Sept. 24 and Nov. 12, runners can meet in Humboldt, Warren and Washington Parks to participate in the chip-timed 1-mile or 5K races. The Chicago Park District will pick up the $9,000 bill to keep these events free for runners, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The first series was held from May 21 to July 9, and had nearly 1,800 runners participate. Almost 3,000 miles were ran over the summer during the program, proving it to be a success, Chicago Park District spokeswoman Jessica Mazey-Faulkner says.

"We implemented 'Go Runs with the hopes of bringing running to neighborhoods that normally don't think of health and fitness," Executive Director of CARA Ed Zylka says. Zylka hopes to bring the program to the suburbs next year.
