September is one of the best months for a round of relaxed golf, corporate outings and professional tournaments! It's also the time when children are back in school, temperatures are cooler and special golf rates are abundant at nearby golf courses.

Speaking of great tournaments in September ... the prestigious 2016 BMW Championship is just days away! Come out and see the top 70 world's best professional golfers tee it up at Crooked Stick in Carmel, Indiana on September 6 through September 11! Who will be victorious this year? Will Jason Day repeat his win in 2015 or will a new champion hoist the winner's trophy in 2016?

In 2016, Brooke Henderson began her week at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship with a hole-in-one that won her a new car. She ended it with an even bigger keepsake - her first major championship, won in a battle against another of the LPGA Tour's youngest stars, Lydia Ko. Henderson clinched the second victory of her career on the first extra hole at Sahalee Country Club.

The excitement for women's professional golf continues as this LPGA Major makes its home at Olympia Fields Country Club, Olympia Fields, IL in 2017 and at Kemper Lakes Golf Club, Kildeer, IL in 2018. Corporate sponsorships and entertaining options were introduced at a recent Launch Party at Chicago's University Club, hosted by LPGA, KPMG and PGA of America.

One glance at the Eaglewood scorecard and doubts immediately popped into my mind. A par 72 course that tops out at a few steps over 6,000 yards is plenty long for this 20 handicap golfer, but how does it defend itself against better golfers armed with 21st century technology? Surprisingly, pretty well, as the resort course in Itasca more than holds its own against all but the very best players. The 60 plus bunkers are menacingly deep and ideally placed, the three ponds and meandering creek at the north end of the course are true hazards, and the sloping greens are perilous from above the hole.
 

Springbrook's driving range renovation project is in its final week! The range will reopen for use on Thurs., Sept. 1.
