Carter Statement on Iranian Revolutionary Guard and U.S. Navy

BETHEL, CT- Today, Republican US Senate candidate Dan Carter made the following comments after reports of Iran Revolutionary Guard came within an "unsafe" distance of U.S. Navy vessels:

"This is what happens when American foreign policy legitimizes and therefore emboldens a nation like Iran," said Carter.

"This is the consequence of putting a price on American lives and opening the floodgates to $150 Billion for the world’s foremost state sponsor of terror, who refers to America as the "Great Satan" and has a history of killing U.S. service members with improvised explosive devices," said Carter. "Iran's efforts to engage and intimidate our military will continue to put our troops in danger, and that's just the tip of the iceberg."

"Senator Blumenthal bought into this failed foreign policy strategy when he signed onto the nuclear deal with Iran," said Carter. "He's avoiding this topic and brushing off reporters by saying he'll ask 'tough questions' but frankly the damage is done."

"Senator Blumenthal will have to answer to the voters in November for putting America and our allies at risk by supporting the world's foremost state sponsor of terror," Carter concluded. "Maybe he can write a strongly worded letter or call for an investigation?"
