A Note from Frankie

Dear Friends, 

Labor Day weekend is here! This Monday, September 5th, I will be teaching a Special Holiday Yoga Class from 12:00-1:15 PM for all levels.  It has become a tradition for me to teach a special class each holiday and I love celebrating with you in this way!  

This month there are a few very unique offerings at Satya Life Yoga.   For the first time ever, I am teaching a Tai Chi Immersion workshop Saturday, September 10th.  This course is open to everyone - true beginners to experienced practitioners alike.  I am eager to have this time with you to explore the Tai Chi movement and energy without the structure of the 24 Form.  In this way, memorization is released and it is easy to fall into the mediative state of the movement. In addition to the workshop, I am offering a Continuing Tai Chi Series that is available to you in a very flexible way - you can register for one or all five classes.  There is a savings given if you purchase more classes at the same time.  Anyone who attends the Tai Chi Immersion workshop is welcome to take the Continuing Series. 

For the Qigong practitioners out there, we are at last at our High Qigong class starting Wednesday, September 7th.  Students who have completed the Intermediate Level class are eligible to take the class, even if it has been some time since the last course.  This class is 50% off for those who are repeating the High class.  Come and enjoy the group energy and share in the new lectures.  It is a wonderful way to kickstart your home practice. 

As many of you know, Karlene Pansler got married last weekend in the beautiful Georgia mountains.  Congratulations Karlene and Brad! We shared a magical Yoga class together the morning of the wedding and I am sharing a picture of that with you below.  What a wonderful way to mark such a special day! In the meantime, I am heading to NYC for a weekend of yoga and other festivities.  Mary, Thomas, Sandy and Melanie are teaching in my absence Thursday through Sunday. I am sure that you will enjoy their classes.  I'll be back Monday for the holiday class.  For now, best wishes for a safe and wonderful labor day weekend.

Share an in depth experience of Tai Chi designed for both those new to Tai Chi and experienced practitioners alike. Together we will explore the principles of Tai Chi movement.  A practice of the 24 Form is not required.   This workshop is open to everyone. 

In a recent article in Harvard Health Publications, Tai Chi is said to improve muscle strength, flexibility, balance and aerobic conditioning.

About Aerial Yoga:
Students registering for Aerial Yoga should be able to hold a plank pose for 30 seconds, have no contraindications for inverting (hanging upside down), and have no recent spine, hip or shoulder injuries.

Tai Chi can perhaps best be thought of as a moving form of meditation.

It is a self-paced, noncompetitive, graceful form of exercise appropriate for all levels of fitness. Learning to do the forms correctly builds bone density as it increases muscle strength, flexibility and overall coordination. Practicing Tai Chi contributes to better standing, walking, and seated postures. Practitioners realize benefits including improved balance and posture, stress relief and ease of movement in life's daily activities.

Experiencing Tai Chi as meditation in motion creates a calm and tranquil mind.
 
These classes are open to those who have completed the Tai Chi series.

It is with great pleasure that I am offering the Qigong High Level course once again at Satya Life Yoga!
 
This is a rare and special occasion.
 
After our first trip to study in China, led by our teacher Master Tianyou Hao, I received my Master certification for teaching Chinese Qigong giving me the permission to teach this level. This important stepping stone marked a place on my own personal journey that is as significant as climbing the Great Wall with the dearest of friends, and as humbling. It is an honor to be able to share this work with you, opening ancient doorways to health and happiness in our contemporary times. 
 
Chinese Qigong has played an important role in my own life since my early twenties. Upon reflection, it is hard to believe that I have been practicing these forms for more than twenty-five years. Then again, Master Hao would always say, "Forget your age, just practice!"
 
In the High Class (Level III) which follows the Intermediate course, we will continue to "Feel Qi, Get Qi, Move Qi". What does this mean? Learning to understand the body's life force energy allows us to not only monitor our state of health and happiness, it also offers us techniques to decrease pain, improve strength, build our immune system, balance emotional and mental stress, increase organ health, and bring a quality of grace into our lives.
 
This new High Class, Level III, includes standing forms, quiet forms and powerful self-healing forms.  You will learn "Big Heaven" to open all the body channels as well as deepen your standing practice. The path is two fold: we create a strong body condition through movement and cultivate mind power with meditation. 
 
If you have been away from your Qigong practice for some time, do not worry. The course will be a gentle path to your own health and balance. This is a perfect time to return.
