ShopShop with the Sheriff
"Shop with the Sheriff" is an annual event put on by the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office to provide children in need with a fun-filled day of pizza and back-to-school shopping.  30 of our Shelter House kids were paired up w ith a deputy buddy to bond with over lunch and then pick out school supplies, clothes, and toys from Target.   This year was another major success and we are so incredibly appreciative to  Sheriff Stacey Kincaid  and the entire  Fairfax County Sheriff's  office.  And thank you to Chairman  Sharon Bulova Supervisor John Cook , and  Delegate Eileen Filler-Corn  for your wonderful remarks and partnership! Changing lives is a community effort and we couldn't do it without everyone getting involved!

We even made the news! Check out news coverage of the event on ABC 7 News - WJLA

NOW STREAMING: watch Nickelodeon's latest HALO Effect episode on  Reboot For Youth  and their journey in collecting and refurbishing 10 computers to donate to our Shelter House families in need. Our clients face many barriers including not having regular access to a computer -- an essential tool for everything from completing homework to seeking employment. The children at our shelters that were featured in this episode were thrilled. Thanks to Chris Cao and everyone involved with  Reboot For Youth  for making it possible!

Concert for a Cause: Thanks to everyone who came out for a day of good music, good food, and good friends. It was a blast!  Thank you to  Acumen Solutions  for hosting a great event and letting us be a part of it. A ll proceeds went to 12 amazing local charities -- ourselves included!

CampShelter House Summer Camp
This summer, Shelter House was fortunate enough to have enough funding for day camps through the Future Fund. The children from all three of shelter programs got to experience daily camp workshops that included arts and crafts, science, exercise as well as fun outings to places like Dinosaur Land and Atlantis in Bull Run Park! The camps allowed for more than 70 school-aged kids to have academic and recreational activities throughout the entirety of their summer vacation to keep them active and engaged.
