Secondary Regulations Posted for Public Comment
Notice from RI Department of Education
Commissioner Ken Wagner
The current draft of Secondary School Regulations, which was
presented to and approved by the Council on May 17, 2016, is
now undergoing the formal process for recording public
comment, which will be open through September 15, 2016.
All interested parties (parents, students, professionals, and community members)are invited to participate in the public
hearings and submit written comments concerning the proposed
regulations from July 1, 2016 - September 15, 2016.
The draft Secondary School Regulations and other supporting
documents can be found at:

The remaining public hearings on the proposed draft regulations will be held on:
- Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 5:30pm: Warwick Public Library
- Monday, September 12, 2016 at 5:30pm: University of Rhode Island, Providence

Pathways to Adult Services Workshop
In order to make informed decisions about life after high school, information is needed in understanding Rhode Island's adult service system for individuals with developmental disabilities. This workshop provides families/guardians with a BASIC OVERVIEW of adult services. Participants will explore a variety of options that will guide their decision making in determining how to direct supports and services necessary in creating a meaningful life!

RIPIN offers both
national and state resources,
along with a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) reference guide, navigating families of and professionals who work with students with disabilities.
