Interested project sponsors in sub-Saharan Africa - or U.S. companies working with African project sponsors - should submit an initial proposal (not to exceed five pages) to USTDA no later than Monday, September 26, 2016 at 5:00pm EST to be considered for funding.

USTDA Advances Solar Power In Panama  - USTDA awarded a grant to Parque Solar Panamá, S.A. for a feasibility study supporting one of the first utility-scale solar photovoltaic power plants in Panama. 

EPC Consultancy Services for National Load Dispatch Center Project in 
Jordan: Smart Grid Upgrades to the Electricity Distribution Company's Network
The Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO) in Jordan is working to implement a two-year smart grid pilot project that grew out of a USTDA-funded feasibility study in 2012. The smart grid system will help Jordan to modernize its electrical grid and incorporate advanced technology to improve operational efficiencies and reduce electricity distribution costs, thereby improving service to EDCO's commercial, industrial and other wholesale customers.

Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL), a subsidiary of Rwanda Energy Group and the implementing agency for the Rwanda Electricity Sector Strengthening Project, has issued two invitations for bids. The first requests eligible bidders for the supply, installation and commissioning of meters.  In the second, EUCL invites bids for the supply of Single Phase PLC Prepaid Meters and High Current Three Phase Prepayment Meters (250 A) for its operations on a two-year framework agreement.

Transnet, a South African state-owned freight logistics company, recently issued a request for proposals for the design, financing, construction, operation, maintenance and eventual handover of an inland container terminal in Tambo-Springs. The objective of the project is to migrate rail-friendly cargo off the country's road network.

Market Intelligence: Brazil - Sabesp Biogas Electricity Plant
Brazil's parastatal Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo (Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo - 'Sabesp') issued a notice for the construction of a biogas electricity generation plant in São Paulo. The project will be completed through a 30-year concession agreement with the private waste treatment plant Estação de Tratamento de Esgoto de Barueri (ETE).
Sabesp is currently in the public hearing stage, and has not yet released an RFP.

USTDA is hosting the China Healthcare Leadership Study Tour for a delegation of 24 officials from China's Ministry of Health (MOH).  This training program will familiarize delegates with U.S. policies and technologies, standards, and industry best practices to meet China's development and modernization goals in the fields of healthcare and hospital administration.

China Freight Rail Reverse Trade Mission 
Date: September 4-10, 2016

USTDA will be hosting a delegation of 14 representatives of China's National Railways Administration (NRA), as well as various state-owned railway development companies. The RTM will familiarize delegates with U.S. best practices, equipment and technologies for freight railway capacity expansion.

The Study Tour, comprised of 20 delegates from CFDA, will begin in New Haven, CT where the delegation will participate in a week-long training program at Yale University.  This program will provide opportunities to learn U.S. FDA processes and a chance to hear perspectives from both scientists and clinicians.  
 
South Africa Gas-to-Power Reverse Trade Mission
