Greetings, Cascade Family and Friends:

Though the temperature is quite warm, summer is swiftly coming to an end. Schools throughout the city, state and nation have begun a new year. Many of our college-bound students have already left home. The Christian Year is nearing an end, as well. In the midst of these changes, Cascade is experiencing a season of celebration. Our Friday Night Fish Fry signaled the official beginning of the 90 th Anniversary Celebration activities. (A good time was had by all!) The excitement will continue on Friday, September 30 at the Braves vs. Detroit Tigers game. Be sure to purchase your ticket as soon as possible and listen to announcements about other scheduled events. You can also keep up with what's going on via Pathway; so, go to www.cascadeumc.org and sign up today if you are not receiving weekly e-mail messages.

We are often reminded of the need to Communicate, Collaborate, and Cooperate. Opportunities are great for remembering that Words Have Power. The right words can be helpful, healing, and life-transforming. "Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones" (Proverbs 16:24). What you say can be life-giving to you and to others or it can take life away. Certainly, the Anniversary Committee wants our full participation, especially on Sunday, October 9 when Bishop James E. Swanson Sr. will share at both worship services and on Sunday, October 16 at the 10:00 a.m. service and culminating fellowship on the church grounds. So, be encouraged to share the good news with former members, prospects, your family and friends.

Finally, my heart is filled with concern and anticipation as I think of my family and friends in Denham Springs and Baton Rouge. The recent flood has reminded us of Jesus' Rx for moving mountains in every circumstance: "HAVE FAITH IN GOD. I assure you that whoever SAYS to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea'-and doesn't waver, but BELIEVES that what is said will really happen-it will happen. And whenever you stand up to pray, if you have something against anyone, FORGIVE so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your wrongdoings" (Mark 11: 22-23, 25). During this awesome time in the life of Cascade United Methodist Church, let us rejoice and enjoy all that God has provided for us TODAY! Remember: Right Thinking + Right Words = A Blessed Life.
