Deadline for Skilled Trades Training Funds Fast Approaching
While Michigan's economy continues to gain momentum, there is still a challenge for companies to find talent with the skills they need. To address this issue, there's the Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF), which provides competitive awards for employer-responsive training to enhance talent, productivity, and employment retention.
Next month we will host Flint Homecoming 2016 - an invitation-only, 1½-day immersion event for about a dozen or so expatriates. The Homecoming Committee is bringing in successful business people and athletes from around the United States to hear from prominent business and community leaders about what's been happening since they left. The idea is to show the expatriates the city's energy and tell them how they can help build on Flint's momentum.
Some of the expats have not been back to Flint in many years. But they are interested in the well-being of the community and our citizens. Some still have family here, and after hearing about the water crisis want to get involved and help move Flint forward.
