Congratulations are in order to Pauline Hill of Rosemount Travel who became the first lady winner of the SPAA's coveted James Robertson Golf Trophy since the competition began in 1949.
After a hard fought contest between over 30 Members and Associates at Lanark Golf club, Pauline emerged as the triumphant winner just ahead of Golf Kings' Neil Macrae and Glen Travel's own Graham Eadie. Pauline's contribution also helped the Delta Team to scoop the team prize - so all in all, a great outcome to a superb day's golf at my home course of Lanark.
I have to thank our headline sponsor Raj Mistry of Carrier, who went the extra mile to provide some fabulous and unexpected prizes to the Winners and Runners-up. Also, to Travelport for providing the team prize, Scenic and Emerald Cruises, Qatar Airways and Do Something Different for the other prizes and for keeping the players hydrated and lubricated on the way round.
Unfortunately, we also had to say goodbye to Justin Gosling of Etihad Airlines who was heading home to Canada the next day to take up a new position with another carrier.
It seems that Justin was only with us for a short time, but he made a big impression on the Scottish trade and will be sorely missed. We wish him all the best as he rejoins his family back in Canada.
The next event on the SPAA calendar is the Autumn Seminar and Networking Lunch at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh on the 15th of September. It promises to be fascinating as we have two prominent speakers from Amadeus who will be talking about travel trends, distribution strategies and the part technology will play in helping us to do business in the year 2030.
Please do come along for some insight into what their predictions are for travel trends and distribution over the next 30 years, and add your input and thought.
