Security: About Jaywalking

When parking in the street across from the school:
Some parents go up to the crosswalk and wait for the signal, which is legal and somewhat safer. Others dart out into traffic at the curve in the road with several small children in tow. As you know this is not allowed but mostly it is extremely dangerous for you, your children and others!
DO NOT JAYWALK across from the school!

Transportation Service

San Diego French-American School is delighted to be able to offer your family our transportation service to and from North County. You can take time off your morning or afternoon commutes by putting your children on the school bus, which makes two stops in North County in Encinitas and Carmel Valley. For the 2016-17 academic year, we have implemented additional options including one-way and individual tickets.  For more information, please click HERE

Farewell Laurence Zede-Humbert

Laurence informed me at the end of the school year that she had decided to move on and accept a new position in a French School in Tunisia to have a new professional experience and be closer to her family. Laurence has been a great teacher at SDFAS for over 15 years, specializing in pre-elementary school. She taught Kindergarten the past few years and many of our students still remember her kindness and the great learning experience she provided. We will miss her, but we wish her the best in her new position! (CJ)

A GLIMPSE AT THE SUMMER WORK ON THE CAMPUS
Un aperçu des travaux sur le campus pendant l'été

Images say more than words. We invite you to take a walk on campus and look at all the improvements made on campus this summer, thanks to the community's generosity.
The installation of a fence around the campus provides added safety and privacy. The sprinkler system in the field was repaired, and some recycling bins are now available.
On the preschool side, the garden of five senses will allow preschoolers to interact with various "sensory-areas" devoted to sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste.
The Kindergarten and lower school play structure is now equipped with a safe rubber surfacing.
The Scholar's Arena in the elementary and middle school features an amphitheater, a stage and an art atelier allowing students to work collaboratively and sharpen their communication skills, and also providing them with new opportunities to create, perform and debate.

In the fall, two new pilot programs will also start:
  • A performing arts program, with an emphasis on theater will help develop student character and self-confidence, and reinforce their public speaking and language skills.
  • A robotics & coding pilot program will be implemented in the elementary and middle school thanks to a grant from a family foundation.
Finally, we are still waiting for the installation of two shade structures. Because of a longer process to receive the DSA permitting than forecasted, the installation of the structures will happen before or during the October break. We will keep you updated on installation timeline.
Thank you for your ongoing support and trust! Participation in our fundraising effort is key to providing these great programs and facilities and enhancing the learning experience of all students.
