"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... And remember, I am with you always until the end of the age." ~From Matthew 28
You're Welcome ... and INVITED!
Dear Friends,
OK - maybe that is a bit BOLD, even CRAZY-TALK! I've been thinking a lot lately about what a GREAT place Hosanna is because of the spirit-filled people who call Hosanna home. Our worship is Christ-centered, our music is an amazing mix of old and new, our education/faith formation is growing and we are thinking outside the box in how to reach our kids (and adults!) with the GOOD NEWS of Jesus, we serve each other both in our community and around the world spreading the love of Jesus.
My question has been: Why don't more people come? I think I have figured it out. Consider this: We are VERY good at WELCOMING people as they enter our building...but how well do we INVITE people to come?
From a blog-post I read this week from Living Lutheran:
Inviting is different from welcoming. Inviting is active. Being an inviting church means that we leave the comfort of Sunday morning worship and seek out our neighbor. Being an inviting church starts with who God has called us into being as church and then mandates joining God at work in the world.
Each congregation has a purpose within God's mission. Each has particular gifts. No congregation is everything to everyone. But every congregation is something to someone... Only when we are centered in this purpose can we become an inviting church.
Here are a few things happening this Fall:
- Wednesday programming (connect360) begins September 14 with a shared meal at 5pm, worship at 6pm and a ministry fair and open house for education from 6:45-7:30pm. See more about connect360 below.
- connect360 Adult Education at 6:30pm on Wednesdays begins September 21 with: My Neighbor is Muslim- Exploring the Muslim Faith. Would you like to know more about the Muslim faith? Would your neighbor? Invite them. We will be exploring: The 5 Pillars of Islam, Islam and Jesus, Islam and Violence, Islam and Women, and Living as a Muslim in the USA.
- Book Study: Healing the Heart of Democracy- The Courage to Create a Politics Worthy of the Human Spirit by Parker Palmer with discussions on Tuesdays at 7pm (Sept 20, Oct 4 &18, Nov 1). See more below.
This Sunday we worship at 9:30am in the Garden Chapel. On September 11 we return to our Fall worship schedule in the Great Hall at 9am and 10:30am. Who's coming with you?
LIVING and LOVING and SERVING....and INVITING!!
~ so that all may know Jesus.

Invi
Invitation from Hosanna's New Food Service Coordinator
|
|
My name is Susan Wojciechowski. Originally, I am from Illinois. I moved to Minnesota three years ago with my husband Larry. We purchased a house in Wyoming, MN, and settled in last year. Larry and I became members of Hosanna about 3 months ago. We collectively have four children, and two beautiful grandchildren. Our family is a blended family and most still live in Illinois, so travel is a must.
I attended Kendall Culinary College for a degree in Hospitality. I worked my way up from a grill cook in Country Clubs, to a Chef Manager, a Food Operations Manager and Retail Catering Manager in Business and Industry accounts for large food service contract companies. I currently hold a position at St Catherine University in St Paul as a Catering Coordinator.
I would like to meet everyone on the team, get to know you a little, and for you to get to know me. I am looking forward to being part of such a dynamic group!
If you could attend a
Meet and Greet THIS Wednesday at 5:00pm in the Garden Chapel that would be great. I plan to have finger foods, so if you have dietary restrictions please let me know. If anyone has a fun meet and greet game we should make it fun. Please let me know if you will attend or not.

Thank you all, I appreciate your assistance!

Her song "Make A Difference," unveiled at the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering, has become a widespread sensation sung by praise bands, youth groups, and school choirs from coast to coast. Rachel has participated in benefit concert tours across the country with fellow musicians Agapé and Lost And Found, helping to raise $125,000 for ELCA World Hunger. In addition to her music leadership at conventions and congregations, Rachel is also an in-demand retreat facilitator and keynote speaker at youth weekends, women's retreats and many times at Sunday morning worship at our Ministry Fair.

Healing the Heart of Democracy-
The Courage to Create a Politics Worthy of the Human Spirit
by Parker Palmer
The author looks with realism and hope at how to deal with our political tensions for the sake of the common good.
Palmer writes:
For those of use who want to see democracy survive and thrive - and we are legion-the heart is where everything begins: that grounded place in each of us where we can overcome fear, rediscover that we are members of one another, and embrace the conflicts that threaten democracy as openings to new life for us and for our nation.
Read the book, then come for the discussions at 7pm on Tuesdays:
- Sep 20 - prelude + ch 1,2
- Oct 4 - ch 3,4
- Oct 18 - ch 5,6
- Nov 1 - ch 7,8
