It's been awhile, but what a year we've been having!

2016 has proven to be an exciting, eventful year for us at C3! Since our last newsletter, we've had lots of new faces come in and become a part of the family, had success in various fight shows throughout the state, and most importantly, continued to help students achieve their goals!

I want to express my thanks and gratitude to everyone for being so welcoming and supportive of our new students! We all remember how intimidating it can be on our first day, and everyone has been great about being welcoming and helpful to all the new faces.

Welcome New Students!
More students join our family

Every month, more students make the decision to start or continue their martial arts journey with us at Charlie's Combat Club. In August, we welcomed the following students:

Barbara Peterson
Zachary Duncan
Kaeli Coms
Ronald Champagne
Haman Singh
Dariusz Andrzejowiec
James Hamilton
Fawn Floyd-Baltzer

Welcome to the C3 family everyone!
New class schedule in affect!
Just a few small changes

We've made a few small changes to our class schedule. We've eliminated that Tuesday and Thursday morning 10:30 Kickboxing class; the gym will still open at 10:30, but no formal class will be going on.

We changed the Tuesday 7pm Women's Kickboxing class to a Women's Light Kickboxing Sparring class! We've had several women ask about sparring, so we decided to give the ladies a sparring hour of their own! For all the women who are interested in this class, full gear is required (boxing gloves, shin pads, mouthpiece).

The full class schedule can be viewed at the following link:

Two students earn their Jiu-Jitsu blue belts!
Joey Elzea and Jake Furney promoted to blue belt

Coach Jake all smiles as Coach Scott ties on his new belt

The ultimate goal for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students is to one day make it the rank of black belt. This is a long process, taking an average of 8 to 10 years. Two of our students recently took the next towards their black belts, as Joey Elzea and Jake Furney were recently promoted to the rank of blue belt by our Jiu-Jitsu coach Scott Stilwell! Congratulations guys!

If you haven't checked out a Jiu-Jitsu class, it's never too late to give it a try! Jiu-Jitsu classes are Monday and Wednesday at 8pm, and Tuesday and Thursday at 4pm.
Fight team successful in multiple shows!
C3 fighters win at amateur and professional level

Since our last newsletter in February, we've seen many of our fighters compete and be successful at the amateur and professional level!

- Bruce Slattum was victorious in two kickboxing bouts at AX 53 and AX 54, showing great technique and winning both bouts via unanimous decision!
- Miranda Granger won the AX 125lb Women's MMA title at AX 53 by triangle choke, and then won the AX 130lb kickboxing title by TKO at AX 54!
- Benita Vasquez made a successful kickboxing debut at AX 54, winning her bout by unanimous decision!
- Eugene Yakovenko made his C3 fighters debut in a 165lb San Shou kickboxing bout, winning by TKO!
- Josh Decker took home the Redemption 185lb MMA title with a unanimous decision win at The Redemption VI!
-Coach Jake Furney stepped into the cage at Rumble on the Ridge 34 and won his 145lb MMA bout by triangle choke in the first round!
- Todd Ware won the AX Fighting 185lb MMA title at AX Fighting 55 by triangle choke!
- Kaden Barish made a successful kickboxing debut in his 190lb bout, winning by clear cut unanimous decision!
- Joey Elzea started his professional career off with style, finishing his opponent by 2nd round arm bar at World Series of Fighting 32!
- Tycen Lynn made quick work of his opponent in his professional debut at World Series of Fighting 32, winning by triangle choke in the 1st round!
- Chris Vasil made his return to the cage at Rumble on the Ridge 35, winning his 150lb Kickboxing title fight by TKO in the 3rd round!
- Brandon Todd made a big statement in his professional debut at Rumble on the Ridge 35; Brandon competed in a one night, 8-man tournament and won all of his fights by unanimous decision against some of the toughest fighters in the state!
- Caitlyn Yousie made a successful Kickboxing debut at Arlington Kickboxing Academy's Warehouse Wars event; while this was a "smoker show", with no official winners or losers, Caitlyn showed her toughness and great combos in her 3 round kickboxing bout!
- Justin Martin also competed at the Warehouse Wars event; Justin may have been fighting a guy who was a foot taller than him, but Justin showed a ton of heart while connecting with some solid body shots, and even landing a spinning back fist that would've knocked out most people!

Congratulations to all of our fighters!
