Opening Weekend AND FREE RIDES for the Cincinnati Bell Connector
Cincinnati has a new streetcar offering service on a 3.6-mile stretch through downtown starting today, Sept. 9, 2016. The Cincinnati Bell Connector will run 18 hours per day, 365 days a year.
The streetcar is a return to the city's roots as they were the main form of public transportation in Cincinnati between 1889 and 1951. At its peak, the streetcar system had 222 miles of track and carried more than 100 million passengers per year.
There are five blue-and-green, electrically powered vehicles on the new 18-stop line - two to three will run at a time - which goes through Downtown and Over-the-Rhine. Each 77.5-foot-long car can fit 154 people with 38 seats and standing room for 116.
While riding the Connector is free for the opening weekend, fares will begin being collected on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016. The cost is $1 for two hours and $2 for an all-day pass. Children under 35 inches ride free and 35-45 inches are 50 cents.
The streetcar will run from 6:30 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Thursday; 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday; 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. Between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, the streetcar will run on 12-minute intervals. Other times, it will run every 15 minutes.

IHN Hosting Opportunities
|
September 11
The cathedral will be hosting the families of Interfaith Hospitality Network again from
September 11-17
. As always, members and friends are encouraged to volunteer their time to welcome these families to our space and to spend time with them. The parents appreciate the food and shelter, certainly, when they are here,
but we more often hear back that they enjoy the conversations they have with our volunteers and the time we spend with their children. Playing games, helping with homework, and simply being present makes for time well spent for all involved. Have you been
thinking about volunteering? Bring your
family, come down for one night or for one hour. You'll be glad you did! Email Elizabeth Brown to learn more.

For years now, the cathedral has had continued offerings during the week at the lunch hour, be it Music Live@ Lunch, Holy Communion, or Community Issues Forums.
This fall we will be introducing three new programs to the afternoon lineup, including free drop in yoga (Stretch@ Lunch), stories of making a difference from some of our outreach partners
(Lunch Issues), as well as LunchX, featuring key note speakers with ideas worth sharing for our business professionals in the neighborhood.
Monday through Friday, the
cathedral is pleased to present all of
our programs as the 12:10 Series. As
the name indicates, all offerings begin
at 12:10 pm, and will run through the lunch hour. The 12:10 Series gives
us a way to communicate to our downtown neighbors and friends that the cathedral always has something going on during the noon hour.
So often these days, "having lunch" during the week means a packed lunch
eaten hurriedly at our desks. With the breadth of new programming joining our already successful existing offerings, we hope to create in the cathedral a destination for the lunchtime hour, be it for music, prayer, or movement.

September 21
Are you intrigued by scripture? Does the Bible seem un-intelligible? How many times have you scratched your head when questioning and trying to
find answers in the Bible? The fall 2016
series of the Cathedral Academy will focus on introducing the Bible in a post-post modern era. The first class, facilitated by the Rev. Susan C. Lehman, will focus on the actual practice of reading scripture through the tools of textual analysis and by taking a narrative approach in allowing scripture to speak to us today. The Cathedral Academy offers classes of spiritual and theological substance to members of the cathedral, as well as the community, each fall and winter/ spring. The classes are free; registration is requested. They are offered on Wednesday evenings, and are structured as follows: Evening
Prayer at 6:05 pm, dinner at 6:30, class at 7:00, and Compline at 8:15. Register
