LSF's board chair Dr. David V.J. Bell is proud to be a recipient of a 2017 Canada's Clean50 Award, recognizing him as a leader in sustainability, influencing the fight against climate change and Canada's transition to a low-carbon economy.
LSF's
Resources for Rethinking database was also awarded a Canada's Clean50 Top 15 Project Award.
These awards are are announced annually by Delta Management Group and the Clean50 organization to recognize the 15 sustainability-oriented projects, completed in the previous two years, which have done the most to advance the cause of sustainability in Canada. Projects are chosen for their innovation, ability to inspire others, or to inform.

Building and maintaining an aquaponics system has allowed these students to explore indoor food production right in their classroom - but they also learned about ecosystems and biodiversity, used their artistic skills to decorate the system, researched different types of fish, made scientific observations about plant growth, and used math to track their data. They even went on field trips to learn more about aquaponics, fish, and our food system. They won an honourable mention from LSF's Jack Layton Award, and now they hope to teach the rest of their school all about aquaponics!
