15th Annual North Carolina Black Film Festival

The Black Arts Alliance of Wilmington, NC is proud to present the
15th Annual North Carolina Black Film Festival. This festival is a four-day juried and invitational festival of independent motion pictures by African-American filmmakers from across the country. Audiences will be exposed to showcases of film in the areas of features, shorts, animation, documentary films and we are proud to announce the addition of a student category this year. Screening locations vary throughout the weekend.

PARK(ing) Day will be celebrated in Wilmington for the fifth (5th) consecutive year. Thirty interactive parks will appear on city streets from 11am to 5pm as artists, activists, planners, local businesses, and creative citizens will take over metered parking spots to promote green and pedestrian-friendly urban spaces.
Contained within the confines of an on-street parking space, participating groups will install pop-up displays to serve as a temporary park or gathering spot for everyone to enjoy.
Displays will be installed mostly along Front Street, with a few located on Chestnut and 2nd Streets.

Cotton Exchange 40th Anniversary

Events for the day include a proclamation from Mayor Saffo at 11am, on stage demonstrations from various merchants, a DJ, clown, live music and more. Guests can also register to win gift certificates to The Cotton Exchange while taking advantage of specials in our shops. Of course, no birthday party would be complete without cake.

Downtown Wilmington Wine & Beer Walk

Location: Downtown Wilmington
The Downtown Wilmington Beer and Wine walk begins, at the new Throne Theater (Formally Ziggy's By The Sea), 208 Market St., Wilmington, NC, where you present your ticket, or if the event has not sold out, purchase your ticket the day of the walk. You will receive your "official" Wilmington Wine & Beer Walk ID and a map of the participating establishments. As you walk through the various locations you will receive 2 wonderful samples (per venue) of a specially selected wine or beer. All participants must be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid ID readily available for establishments to verify.
** Check in at The Throne Theater begins at 1:00pm, and ends at 3:30pm. Be sure to check in before we close it down!

Downtown Wilmington is experiencing unprecedented growth. Key public investments in parks, walkways, education and roads are changing the Downtown experience for residents and visitors. Meanwhile, the private sector is responding with a variety of projects that are expanding the local economy, growing the tax base and reshaping the Downtown skyline.
This informative and enlightening session will include presentations by seven investors driving the renaissance. This panel of experts will talk about development trends for new housing, office and retail space in Downtown Wilmington. They will also provide insight about their projects including the decision making process and challenges along the way.

The 6th Annual Dili Gold Tournament supports the Coast Guard Scholarship Fund at Cape Fear Community College and Cape Fear Hospice. The Coast Guard Scholorship Fund provides funding to local Coast Guard members and their families as well as veterans from other requirements. Cape Fear Hospice is a non profit agency that provides healthcare and comfort to people with advanced illnesses, support and counseling to families, and education to the communities in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow, and Pender counties.

 The Bring It! Downtown Marketing Campaign was created to help market and rebrand downtown Wilmington and to define a universal image for downtown that all businesses can embrace and utilize to create a unified message.
Ultimately, the campaign's goal is to encourage locals and visitors to spend more time in historic downtown Wilmington through branding and education.
