The 17th Sunday after Trinity | September 18, 2016
|
As Christians, we know that two of our primary obligations are to spread the Word of God and to do what we can to address the needs of others -- especially those who are unable to fulfill their needs on their own. This missionary work should be a central undertaking at St. Thomas' and it should also be something we do together, a means of binding and enriching our community of faith. In past years, St. Thomas' has generously funded a number of charities and outreach programs. These efforts have ranged from feeding and providing for the needs of the Seafarers to our work with the Christian Community Service Center (CCSC).

Churches down through the years have provided places for the earthly remains of their parishioners. In keeping with that tradition, St. Thomas' is building a columbarium--a place for the respectful placement of cinerary urns--to provide a final resting place for those with deep connection to and love for our parish and school. Construction under the Bell Tower will begin this summer. Flyers are available in the Narthex, or you can contact the church office for more information.

As we review the past year and look forward to the new school year, we at St. Thomas' enter our Season of Gratitude. During this time we will reflect on those individuals who have helped us grow and develop as a church. We are reminded of those things for which we are grateful-our homes, families, friends, jobs, talents, opportunities, our schools and, of course, our church, as well as those who share their time, talent and treasure with us at St. Thomas'.
