Last week, the City Council introduced legislation that would dramatically change how the City manages encampments on public property. After evaluating this legislation, the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce has joined a coalition of business and neighborhood organizations to call upon the city to pass real reform to address the homelessness crisis in our city, rather than band-aid solutions that could pose significant negative impacts to small businesses, residents, employees, public space advocates and visitors to our city.

We want to be a part of an effective and compassionate solution, to support and participate in efforts to alleviate the very real issues around homelessness, and we will continue to share our concerns with the City Council.
