Train a Staff Member to Train Your Technicians

Training people with little or no experience to be ophthalmic technicians can be a tedious and expensive process. The costs involved in advertising, hiring and training can be enormous. This is especially true when a technician leaves soon after they begin, causing you to have to start over again with someone new.

Wouldn't it be great to have an organized training program that provides consistency across all techs within your practice? Think about the rewards to both your technicians and your practice of having one or more staff members trained in a manner proven to provide new technicians with the foundation of knowledge and techniques necessary to provide consistent data and quality patient care.

The response to the first of its kind three-day course was so positive, we are bringing it to Southern California. Eyetechs will train one or more of your office staff in what it takes to train clinical staff. Two days will be spent in a classroom setting while the third day will include hands on training in a local practice. We will discuss the characteristics of a trainer and the qualities to look for in a new hire. Participants will learn how to hire smart as well as how to train others in performing:

  • Work ups
  • Scribing
  • Coding

In addition, participants will leave with the Eyetechs’ Technician Training Manual (a $750.00 value).  This is a 12-week structured training program with step by step instructions to ensure consistency among your techs.

The primary instructor is Jane T. Shuman, MSM, COT, COE, OCS, CMSS, OSC. Other faculty include Darlene Winn COMT and Ronald Purnell, MBA, COE
