DAAD Sound Understanding Tickets - Last Chance

There is still time to order tickets for the DAAD 2014 Sound Understanding Concert on Tuesday, 8 April 2014. The concert will take place in Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York City at at 7:30pm.







Sound Understanding will feature some of the most talented and promising new musicians from Germany. The young men and women performing were selected in a nationwide competition among the best graduates of German music colleges. Each received a DAAD award to study for one year in the US or Canada.

The following 2013/14 DAAD music fellows will take the stage for a concert of classical and jazz music to help raise awareness of the work of DAAD and the DAAD Alumni Association in promoting transatlantic exchange:

The Hessen International Summer University (ISU) at the Philipps-Universit�t Marburg is a four-week summer study program offering specialized seminars in English, credits (up to 9 ECTS), weekend field trips to various destinations in Germany and France and more!

Target Group

Program Structure
The program covered by the fee consists of the
German language module + one seminar module that you may choose of the following four:

Business/Economics
Cultural Studies/Sociology

In each module two seminars and a supplement course are offered.
All classes, with the exception of language courses and 1 seminar, are taught in English.

Call for Applications: PhD Students

Funded since 2007 by the German Research Foundation as part of the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments,the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS), will
admit six additional PhD candidates beginning October 1, 2014.

Preferred areas of research include: Culture and Technology in Africa, Media in Africa and
Development Economics in Africa.

Advertisement: �Summer of Knowledge� in Frankfurt

The first Frankfurt Summer School �Summer of Knowledge� organized by Goethe University will take place from 21 July to 15 August 2014. Located at the new Campuses Westend and Riedberg Frankfurt Summer School will cover the subject areas �Legal Studies�, �Psychology� and �Natural and Life Sciences �. All courses are held in English.






The focus areas of the subject areas are:
1) Legal Studies - Law in Modern Societies � Fundamental, international and interdisciplinary aspects
2) Psychology � Social Psychology and Organizational Behaviour. The broad approach of the Psychology seminars offers the possibility to participate for students of all related fields like business administration, political science and sociology.
3) Natural and Life Sciences � Biodiversity in the Context of Global Change

The participants will also have the opportunity to attend German courses.
Excursions and study tours to the German cities of Heidelberg and Berlin as well as a weekend visit to the French town of Strasbourg are also part of the programme.
