DAAD German Poetry Jam Contest - The Results Are In!

The videos have been submitted and your votes have been counted!

The DAAD German Poetry Jam Contest was concluded on May 27, 2014. The public was asked to select its favorite video from the artistic submissions of five finalists.

3,330 people participated in the online voting for the winners of this contest.

The prizewinners are as follows:

The first prize goes to Bruno Berastain of the University of California of Santa Barbara
The second prize recipient is Angelika Milczarski of Brock University.
The third prize winner is Sarah Kendall of Rollins College.

The contest required contestants to to create a video, of the length of 1 minute maximum, illustrating in verse, rhyme, rap or song what studying in Germany means to you, and post it onto YouTube.

DAAD Funded 6% More Students Worldwide in 2013

The DAAD Executive Committee recently released the latest data about the number of grantees funded in 2013. The findings revealed a 6% increase in the number of students and scholars that DAAD funded in 2013. To put this increase into context: the number of DAAD grantees in 2013 rose to a total of 68,813 German applicants and 50,093 applicants worldwide.

DAAD has also served as the German national agency of highly successful world-renown exchange program, Erasmus, since its onset. This past Decemeber, Erasmus greatly expanded its program by launching Erasmus + and strongly increasing its budget.

DAAD is also one of the earliest and most experienced agencies for educational programs in the EU. It also supports international mobility of German students with its "Bologna macht mobil" (Bologna makes you mobile) program. "Bologna macht mobil" consists of three programs that fully recognize academic achievements completed in foreign countries. These programs include: "Integrated International Dual Degree Programs," "Integrated International Study and Education Partnerships," and "Bachelor Plus" programs, which encompass a four year Bachelors degree with a year of study abroad.

Call for Applications: The German Chancellor Fellowship

The German Chancellor Fellowship is targeted at accomplished young professionals who are likely to become decision-makers, thought leaders, and influential voices in their respective fields. Fellows will be recruited from a broad range of areas such as politics and public policy, law, media, business, the non-governmental and non-profit sector, and the arts. The program provides fellows the opportunity to spend one year in Germany, where they will network with other prospective leaders from abroad and explore new solutions to the global issues of our times. This prestigious program builds on Germany's established and growing reputation as a favored destination for problem-focused international dialogue and a meeting place for tomorrow's international leaders.

Eligibility:
� Bachelor's or comparable academic degree, completed less than twelve years prior to the starting date of the fellowship (October 1 of the year following application)
� Citizenship of the United States, the Russian Federation, the People's Republic of China, the Federal Republic of Brazil, or the Republic of India
� Candidates from all professions and disciplines are eligible to apply
� Demonstrated leadership potential; applicants whose background is largely academic should also have gained some leadership experience beyond their own research activities
� Either English or German language skills

HAUS Scholarship - Call for Applications

Heidelberg Alumni U.S. (HAUS) invites applications for the HAUS Scholarship. The stipend is available to a qualified student from the United States to study at Universit�t Heidelberg. The scholarship award is $5,000 for Masters program students and $3,000 for Bachelors program students. It is funded entirely by Heidelberg alumni residing in the U.S.

The application deadline for the Winter semester 2014-15 is June 30.
