FUBiS is an intensive academic program through which students can earn credits that may be counted toward their degrees at their home institutions. FUBiS sessions run for 3
to 6 weeks and take place both in summer and winter.

The FUBiS program 2015 takes place in three terms:
 FUBiS term I: January 3 - January 24, 2015 (3 weeks)
 FUBiS term II: May 30 - July 11, 2015 (6 weeks)
 FUBiS term III: July 18 - August 15, 2015 (4 weeks)

Each term may be taken separately. Students can choose between subject classes (mostly taught in English) and German language classes.
The subject classes are offered within the fields of Architecture, Art history, Politics, Humanities, Social Sciences, Cultural Studies, History, and Music. The subject courses may be combined with a semi-intensive German language course. A subject class taught in Spanish will compliment the course program of term I 2015.

The German language classes are offered on up to five different levels of proficiency and take place as semi-intensive (3 days per week) or intensive (5 days per week) classes.
The semi-intensive classes may be combined with a subject course.
An overview of the complete course program for FUBiS term I 2015 can be found here http://www.fubis.org/en/prog/term_1/index.html.

The course program for term II and III 2015 will be published by the end of November 2014 on our website.
Study visits within Berlin are an integral part of all our classes. In addition, FUBiS offers field trips to the Berlin Reichstag and a River Boat or Video Bus Tour through Downtown Berlin as well as day and weekend trips to other German cities.

GHI Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships

The German Historical Institute (GHI) awards short-term fellowships to German and American doctoral students as well as postdoctoral scholars in the fields of German history, the history of German-American relations, and the history of the role of Germany and the USA in international relations. These fellowships are also available to German doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars in the field of American history. Applications from doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars who currently do not receive funding from their home institutions are especially invited. The fellowships are usually granted for periods of one to six months but, in exceptional cases and depending on the availability of funds, they can be extended by one month. The research projects must draw upon primary sources located in the United States.

The GHI will not provide funding for preliminary research, manuscript composition or the revision of manuscripts. It will give clear priority to those postdoc projects that are designed for the "second book." The monthly stipend is EUR 1,700 for doctoral students and EUR 3,000 for postdoctoral scholars from European institutions; students and scholars based at North American institutions will receive a stipend of $1,900 or $3,200 respectively. In addition, fellowship recipients based in Germany will receive reimbursement for their round-trip airfare to the U.S.

The next deadline for applications is October 1, 2014.
