Airport Programs Create Better
'Sense of Place' for Travelers
As part of Pittsburgh International Airport's commitment to bringing more of the region into the airport and celebrating local institutions, food, music, art and culture, the airport is rolling out several programs aimed at boosting a better sense of place.
The
'Voices of Pittsburgh' on the trains that connect the Airside and Landside terminals will continually change to showcase current events and people from the region. Bill Hillgrove, Steelers radio broadcaster is currently featured.
Additionally, partnerships have been established with the
Richard King Mellon Foundation, Children's Museum, Carnegie Museums and others, to bring new exhibits and installations into the airport.
A major
renovation of the Kidsport play area in Concourse C is also underway. The new space will feature up to 10 new interactive audio/visual installations from the Children's Museum and Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, bright new carpeting, furniture, fixtures and paint. Anticipated completion is in November 2016.

More Options: New Nonstops to San Juan and Austin on Allegiant
Allegiant has announced
new nonstop service to Austin, Texas and San Juan, Puerto Rico from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). The new year-round flights to Austin will operate twice a week, and new seasonal flights to Puerto Rico will operate once a week until April 22, 2017. Including these new routes, Allegiant offers nonstop flights to nine destinations from Pittsburgh.

Duolingo Provides Free Airport Wi-Fi; Additional Access Points Installed
Pittsburgh International Airport is pleased to announce a new partnership with
Duolingo to continue providing free Wi-Fi to passengers. Additionally, the airport is installing more Wi-Fi access points throughout the terminals for better connectivity.
Noting a
40 percent increase in international traffic in 2016, Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said the partnership could lead to additional opportunities including improved signage and translation services for passengers.
"As we look to improve customer service and provide additional amenities for an increasingly global society, and as we work to showcase more of our region's innovation, we hope this is the first step in a long relationship with Duolingo and other successful tech firms in the region," she said.

Southern Airways Now Provides Nonstop Service to 10 Cities including Harrisburg from Pittsburgh
Southern Airways Express, Pennsylvania's intra-state ultra-regional airline, has announced new nonstop service connecting Pittsburgh International Airport to DuBois, Pa., Johnstown, Pa. and Morgantown, W.Va. Southern Airways will operate three daily roundtrips from each of these cities, beginning in November.
Daily service to Harrisburg, Pa. begins October 31.
