2016 College Football Hall of Fame electee Bill Royce (Ashland [Ohio]) was honored Sept. 10 with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute, presented by Fidelity Investments. Royce was named a First Team All-American in 1993 after posting a single-season school record 20.5 sacks. He would also lead the team in sacks in 1991 and 1992, finishing with an astounding 71 in his career. Click here to read more about Royce.

During the NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes, each inductee returns to his alma mater or school where they coached to accept a Hall of Fame plaque that will remain on permanent display at the institution. Bowes will be officially inducted at the 59th NFF Annual Awards Dinner, held at New York City's historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Alabama remained No. 1 in the Week 2 FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll with 42-of-45 first-place votes. Florida State, Ohio State, Clemson and Michigan round out the top five in the poll, in which voters rank the top 16 FBS teams.

The results of the poll will be released every Sunday of the 2016 season and the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The final poll will be released Dec. 4. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers.

Sept. 19, Atlanta Celebrates the Tour Championship:  The top 30 PGA Tour players will be honored at the College Football Hall of Fame. Proceeds from the event benefit the East Lake Foundation. 

New Virtual Reality Exhibit: In conjunction with AT&T, the Hall announced it has completed the installation of the new AT&T Virtual Stadium, incorporating Samsung Gear VR and immersing f ans in the middle of all the action at more than 20 stadiums during some of the biggest rivalry games from each season.

NFF Board Member and Under Armour Chairman & CEO Kevin Plank has donated $1 million to Baltimore Catholic schools for scholarships.

2016 College Football Hall of Fame electee Scott Woerner (Georgia) is among four who will be inducted into the Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame Oct. 28. The other inductees include former Georgia defensive lineman Marcus Stroud and former Florida kicker Jeff Chandler and All-America tight end Ben Troupe.

2016 College Football Hall of Fame electee Marlin Briscoe (Nebraska Omaha) will be honored with the 2016 Tom Osborne Leadership Award Sept. 25 at the seventh annual Tom Osborne Leadership Award Banquet at the Lochland Country Club in Hastings, Neb.

College Football Hall of Fame coach Barry Alvarez, Wisconsin's director of athletics since 2004, has signed a contract extension through Jan. 31, 2021.

College Football Hall of Famer Bruce Smith (Virginia Tech) will have his number retired by the Buffalo Bills during the team's home-opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 15.

College Football Hall of Famers Johnny Rodgers and Will Shields will be enshrined in the University of Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame the weekend of Sept. 17.

College Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown will be  honored  by the Syracuse University Alumni Association with the 2016 Arents Award Sept. 16 in the Goldstein Auditorium at the Schine Student Center. The award is the highest alumni honor bestowed by the university.

1997 Campbell Trophy winner Peyton Manning represented his alma mater Tennessee at the coin toss of Saturday's Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol featuring the Vols and Virginia Tech.

1999 Campbell Trophy winner Chad Pennington will be inducted into Marshall University's W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications Hall of Fame on Sept. 23.

2009 Campbell Trophy winner Tim Tebow (Florida) signed a Minor League Baseball contract with the New York Mets. He will still continue his broadcasting role for the SEC Network.

2003 NFF National Scholar-Athlete and current New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning (Mississippi) and his wife, Abby, have pledged $1 million to the Children's of Mississippi $100 million capital campaign.

NFF National Scholar-Athletes Steve Juday (1965) and Mike Sadler (2014) will be  inducted  into the Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame Sept. 22. Former football player Eric Allen will also be inducted.

On Sept. 17 the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk, Va., will host a POW/MIA Remembrance program featuring a screening of the documentary film Last Flight Home. It will also be hosting a World War I Symposium Oct. 21-22. The memorial honors Gen. Douglas MacArthur, an early NFF leader who received the NFF Gold Medal in 1959.

Over The Middle
The Little Rock Touchdown Club/NFF Arkansas Chapter's 2016 fall speaker series continued today with Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long. Former Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel will speak next week on Sept. 19.

The NFF  Tom Lombardo/St. Louis Chapter will host its first luncheon of the season Sept. 14 at Lombardo's-Airport restaurant featuring longtime St. Louis Post-Dispatch sports writer Jim Thomas.

The NFF Valley of the Sun (Ariz.) Chapter and the Fiesta Bowl are partnering for the chapter's 25th Annual Scholar-Athlete Top-Golf Tournament Sept. 23 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

West Florida  announced a $1 million gift from Pen Air Federal Credit Union for field naming rights. The Argos are 2-0 in their inaugural season after defeating Missouri S&T, 45-28, in their first home game... Texas-Permian Basin moved to 2-0 in its inaugural season after a 49-34 win over Arizona Christian... 

Scheduling

UTEP and Nevada have scheduled a home-and-home series for 2019 and 2020... Eastern Washington and Florida agreed to a game in 2020...  Arkansas will host Florida A&M in 2017 and Missouri State in 2021... West Virginia will host Youngstown State in 2018 and James Madison in 2019... Georgia State added a home game with Savannah State to its 2020 schedule...
