June 19, 2015 Call for Applications: Falling Walls Lab Berlin 
The Falling Walls Lab is looking for young scientists, entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world to pitch their research work, initiatives or business models to a distinguished jury from academia and business on November 8, 2015 in Berlin. All disciplines are encouraged to apply! The Falling Walls Lab is a cooperation project between the Falling Walls Foundation, A.T. Kearney (Founding Partner) and Festo (Global Partner). An A.T. Kearney Scholarship will be granted to all participants, covering accommodation for November 8-9 and the ticket for the Falling Walls Conference on November 9. The three most intriguing presenters will be awarded the title Falling Walls Young Innovator of the Year 2015, receive a cash prize and get the opportunity to present their idea on the grand stage of the Falling Walls Conference on November 9, 2015. Alumniportal Deutschland will host a webinar on how to find a job after studying abroad on Monday, July 6th 2015. Dr. Julia Boger from the Returning Experts Program of the World University Service will discuss the challenges that come along with returning home from abroad and adapting to the job market. She will address questions such as: How do I manage to find a job? How do I deal with changing expectations towards me? What techniques and strategies can help me with this process? The webinar will be held in English and streamed live from the Ruhr-University Bochum. At Wednesdays press conference in Berlin marking DAADs 90th anniversary, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier congratulated DAAD for supporting two million scholars from around the world since its founding. He highlighted the organizations crucial role in promoting scientific and cultural cooperation in times of crisis. This is exemplified msot recently by a scholarship program for Syrian refugees launched by DAAD in 2014 with funds from the Federal Foreign Office. The program served as a model for subsequent collaboration with Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia, which have also started scholarship programs for Syrian refugees. DAAD President Prof. Margret Wintermantel also gave insight on current developments in German higher education. She noted that German universities are more international than ever, with more than 300,000 foreign students, as well as one in ten researchers coming from abroad. After the US and the UK, Germany is the most popular host country for international students. As part of DAADs 2020 Strategy, it will increasingly offer its international expertise to partners in higher education and politics. Be sure to stay up-to-date with #90JahreDAAD on Twitter! 15. GAIN Jahrestagung in San Francisco

August 2015 im San Francisco Marriott Marquis statt. Ziel der Tagung ist die Vernetzung der deutschen Wissenschaftscommunity in den USA und Kanada und der intensive Dialog mit den wissenschaftspolitischen Schlüsselfiguren in Deutschland. Zu dieser Veranstaltung erwarten wir in diesem Jahr rund 500 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer, darunter zahlreiche hochrangige Vertreterinnen und Vertreter aus Wissenschaft, Politik und Wirtschaft. Im persönlichen Kontakt können Sie sich über Ihre individuellen Karrieremöglichkeiten am Wissenschaftsstandort Deutschland beraten lassen. Fachspezifische Fragestellungen werden ebenso erörtert wie praktische Tipps für die Zeit nach dem Postdoc. Zudem wird es die Möglichkeit geben im Vorfeld Stellenangebote zu sichten und persönliche Vorstellungs- und Beratungsgespräche mit einzelnen Ausstellern zu vereinbaren. Zahlreiche Workshops behandeln u.a. den Aufbau von Nachwuchsgruppen, die Bewerbung auf eine Professur, Karrieren in der Wirtschaft und Administration sowie Strategien für Doppelkarrierepaare und Familien. Das Konferenzprogramm wird abgerundet durch eine Talent Fair mit vielen Hochschulen, Forschungseinrichtungen und Firmen. Die Beteiligung der Hochschulen wird von GAIN gemeinsam mit der Hochschulrektorenkonferenz organisiert.
