You and your colleagues do not want to miss an exciting announcement from ACEC Colorado during the first membership luncheon of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 27! The Council is launching a new, statewide initiative,  #StandAsStewards, which is aimed at elevating awareness and recognition by the public about "where's the engineering" in our everyday lives.

During the luncheon, you can learn about the initiative and engage in a dialogue with "champions" its four objective areas:
  • Gain recognition for engineering professionals as factual resources in policy development.
  • Establish engineering professionals in the public's mind as visionary leaders in creating their quality of life.
  • Help engineering be the career of choice.
  • Make engineering a better business.
ACEC Colorado President Elizabeth Stolfus, PE; Dave Merritt, PE; and Bill Siegel, PE, will each share real stories about how they  are "standing as stewards" through community, civic and business engagement in their personal and professional lives and meeting the initiative's objectives:

Addressing Quality-of-Life...
Elizabeth Stolfus, PE
Stolfus will be joined by special guests from Colorado State Patrol and Loveland Fire Rescue Authority to describe how they worked together as a team to develop an innovative approach to Traffic Incident Management.

Addressing Policy Development...
Dave Merritt, PE
Merritt will describe how being an engineer has informed and influenced his role as a civic leader and volunteer, including serving as mayor pro tem for Glenwood Springs City Council.

Addressing Better Business...
Bill Siegel, PE
Siegel will reinforce the value of business education through  examples of how training in general business concepts made a difference in his past organization and how he has worked to stay ahead of market shifts and continues to fight for the value proposition of consulting engineering.
