Thanks to everyone who attended and supported Fork it Over last weekend. Together, we raised $87,000 for Community Action of Napa Valley Food Bank. Together, we made a difference for families in Napa County -- and helped raise the necessary funds for the Food Bank to purchase a new refrigerated truck!

We are getting ready for fall at Oxbow Public Market, with flavors like pumpkin biscotti and harvest brittle. We also welcome a guest shucker, the renowned Rowan Jacobsen, to Hog Island Oyster Bar, and we celebrate Kara's birthday, with what else...cupcakes!

Friends of the Napa River (FONR) will be the guest nonprofit at Locals' Night tonight from 5 to 8 pm. Come learn more about the important work they do to advocate and work for responsible protection, restoration, development and celebration of the Napa river and its watershed. Also, find out about their upcoming concert and fundraiser on October 8.

Hog Island Oyster Co. welcomes James-Beard Award-winning author and renowned guest shucker, Rowan Jacobsen. A decade ago, Jacobsen wrote "A Geography of Oysters," the comprehensive guide to identifying, serving, and savoring oysters. Jacobsen will be signing copies of his newest release, "The Essential Oyster" at the event, which is a dine-and-donate with 10 percent of Hog Island Oyster sales going to Friends of the Napa River.

OPENING AT OXBOW SOON

Opening later this month, CRU @ the Annex will feature 1,800 square feet of indoor and outdoor space for guests to enjoy Vineyard 29 wines by the flight, glass or bottle.  Guests will find themselves in a relaxed, easy environment where the tech world meets the wine world. The dark green barn structure grounds and frames the space for custom and ever-changing digital art installations. The casual vibe will be sure to encourage one to stay for a while and return often! Art installations will rotate monthly with plans to feature local artists and quarterly meet-the-artist events. Once the opening date is confirmed, we'll update on Facebook.

Stop by Gott's to try the heirloom tomato bruschetta and hand-spun Three Twins Land of Milk & Honey shake before they come off the specials menu next month. Throughout October, Gott's will feature its seasonal fried zucchini sticks and a falafel salad with house-made falafel and hummus, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, Kalamata olives, feta, pita chips and pickled turnips on a kale lettuce mix tossed in lemon-tahini dressing.

Most of you are probably aware that Oxbow Cheese & Wine Merchant's sister store is Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant in San Francisco. This week, Oxbow just received a new Pinot Noir under the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant label. While many private label programs go out of their way to create a fantasy name and weave a fictitious tale about a non-existent winery, Ferry Plaza's program is the opposite. Nothing is hidden, they work with a variety of different producers to craft the wines, are proud of the wines presented under their eponymous label, and strive to over-deliver at the price. This juicy and lively Pinot from Santa Barbara County is a fine addition to the program, and will hit the shelf at $20.
