It's been said that no one addiction is better than any other. Indeed, addictions have more similarities than differences. The ability of addiction professionals - and others - to gain an understanding of these commonalities will help our community work more cohesively, ultimately leveraging existing resources for maximum benefit to problem gamblers.

This year's conference features:

Keith Whyte, Executive Director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, on The Future of the Field-Addressing Problem Gambling through Community Connections

Jon E. Grant, JD, MD, MPH, Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago, on The Neurobiological Connection Between Substance Use Addiction and Gambling Addiction

Other topics include:
  • Confessions of a Gamer
  • Mindfulness in Recovery
  • Lessons Learned from Implementing an Evidence-Based Problem Gambling Education Program
  • Family Therapy with Problem Gamblers
  • Implementing Rule 82
  • Open Gambler's Anonymous Meeting

Who Should Attend? The conference is appropriate for gambling, alcohol and drug addiction counselors, social workers, law enforcement officers, school and church leaders, therapists, other health care and social service workers, and people in recovery and their families. CEU credits are available from various professional boards.
