John Gill-Shelter Insurance  Agent
 
John Gill was born and raised in Dickson, TN and graduated from Dickson County High School in 2009. He then attended University of Tennessee at Martin receiving a degree in Agriculture in 2014. After graduating he started into insurance back in Dickson then moved to another office in Franklin until Shelter Insurance offered him a position to be an agent for them in Dickson. Gill took over Shelter Insurance on January 1, 2016 from Mr. Charles Seay who was with the company over 30 years here. Shelter Insurance has been in business since 1946 and consistently receives high ratings from A.M. Best Company (a national firm that rates the financial strength and operating performances of insurance companies). John just received agent of the month in August this year. Shelter Insurance is able to provide products to protect your home, life, car, farm, business, and more. They offer convenient month to month, three months, six months and one year payment plans. Shelter accepts cash, checks, credit card and automatic bank draft for easy payment options.
 
Shelter Insurance is located at 313 East College St. in Dickson. They are open Monday through Friday. 8:00- 5:00. John is always available and can be contact at 615-446-7590.

Dickson County Tennessee Smoke Fest 2016


 
The Dickson County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the FIRST Annual SMOKE FEST event in Dickson, Tennessee. Over $7500 in Prize Money!
October 28 and 29, 2016, we invite you to fire up your grills and join us for a celebration of great BAR-B-Q.
We have added a People's choice competition to the event to meet the demand of the general public and make the event even better for you, the cooks. We are anticipating a large attendance at the event.
The 2016 SMOKE FEST event will offer cooking competitions, entertainment and activities on Friday, October 28, including a haunted house and Kids Q Cook off, Backyard cookers event, costume contests, Kids Power Wheels spooky derby, and much more starting at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, there are more activities along with numerous additional activities throughout the grounds with a Grand Finale Spooky Demolition Derby in the main grandstand.
We will also welcome all Backyard Teams to cook up their best to win over $1,000 in cash prizes.
The 2016 Dickson County SMOKE FEST will be a KCBS sanctioned event.  For complete information about rules and regulations, please visit the website at http://www.kcbs.us
Pro teams will participate in Pork, Ribs, Brisket and Chicken categories on Saturday with prizes awarded for 1st-10th place in individual categories.
Backyard teams will participate in Chicken and Rib categories on Saturday with prizes awarded for 1st- 3rd place in individual categories.
All Pro and Backyard Teams are encouraged to participate in the special People's Sample Award but are not required. This is simply an addition to offer patrons the chance to enjoy true competition BAR-B-Q.
