September 13th is Capitol Hill Day!
On September 12-14th, two of our Ohio Members, Demi Trice and Kathie Schwartz, will be joining with others in the scleroderma community and
going to Capitol Hill. They will
meet with Senators and members of Congress to
share their personal stories of how scleroderma affects daily life
.
According to the Scleroderma Foundation, "our combined advocacy efforts led to the recognition of scleroderma as a condition eligible for study through the Department of Defense (DOD) Peer-Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP) in FY 2016.
Our legislative agenda for this session of Congress includes the following:
- Asking House Representatives to cosponsor the bipartisan Scleroderma and Fibrosis Research Enhancement Act (H.R. 3666).
- Identifying a Senate Republican to introduce a bipartisan version of the Scleroderma and Fibrosis Research Enhancement Act in the Senate.
- Ensuring the scleroderma research portfolio at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) can grow and advance by securing at least at $2 billion funding increase for NIH in FY 2017. *Ensuring scleroderma continues to be recognized as a condition eligible for research through the PRMRP in FY 2017."
Good luck, Demi and Kathie!
