Greetings from Pilgrim Pines. Our summer camping season is officially in the books. We are now fully engaged in hosting our guest groups and retreats. Regardless of the time of year or our ministry focus, one thing remains constant: Pilgrim Pines touches and CHANGES the lives of those who visit. God is at work here. Everyone who visits knows this, feels this and testifies to it.
My focus has been shifting from internal matters to external. I have started meeting with churches and other ministry partners around New England and beyond. During the month of September, plans call for me to spend time with the Highrock Brookline church, Covenant Village of Cromwell, Forest Hills Covenant Church as well as a couple of partner UCC churches. Relationship building and crafting a shared vision for Pilgrim Pines is critical as we together plan for the future.
I look forward to being in a position soon to share some specific plans for 2017. As plans come together, we would very much appreciate your continued prayers for the ministry of Pilgrim Pines. There are significant challenges ahead of us. Each and every one of us can play a role in making our future dreams possible.
I am hoping that as many of you as possible are planning on paying us a visit this Autumn. There are a number of retreat offerings that just might change your life or the life of a loved one. We would love to have you with us!

Camping Area Improvements
|

We continue to make improvements in our Camping Area. This month we added shrubbery in front of the Maple Bunkhouse.
|

We have made tremendous progress on the new Bunkhouse. Our sincere thanks to our volunteers working on getting it winter ready.
We are grateful to our ECC church in Attleboro, MA and their partnership in ministry.

We are excited to announce plans for Scott Lee to pay our Chicago based family members a visit. He plans to host a Pilgrim Pines "social" on Sunday, October 16th at 4:30 p.m. The social will take place at the home of Scott and Lisa Applequist, 9007 Mason Ave, Morton Grove, IL. In addition to sharing Pilgrim Pines memories and catching up with old friends, Scott hopes to be able to introduce himself to those he hasn't met along the way. He is looking forward to sharing an evolving vision for Pilgrim Pines and what is planned specifically for 2017.

Fundraising for Camp Scholarships - Handmade Quilt for Sale
|
Our sister, Diane Crandall, a longtime member of the Pilgrim Pines family, has generously donated a handmade quilt for fundraising purposes. Her gift is intended to generate funds for camp scholarships. We are asking $500. (We would be happy to accept more should a generous heart be motivated to bless us with a more significant gift). Our scholarship fund is used each year to send kids to camp, kids that otherwise would be unable to attend due to financial circumstances. The quilt is absolutely beautiful. Camping Area "Stay Put" Policy
|
The day has come for us to give serious consideration to updating / upgrading our camping area facility. Our leadership and facilities teams are gathering information from various sources with crafting a project plan in mind. While we make our way through possibilities and options, we are recommending that our campers remain on their current sites through the 2017 camping season. As plans come together, we will keep our camping area folks posted. Should trailers, at some point, need to be moved, our goal is to give sufficient notice so that a last minute scramble is avoided. It is with great joy and gratitude that we are able to share more good news about our 2016 camping season. At Camp Squanto, we hosted a total of 667 campers, up 62 (+10.2%) over 2015. As for the overall performance of our ministry, as of July 31st, registration income is up 11.7% over 2015. Thanks to all of you for your continued support and commitment to Pilgrim Pines.
As for our undesignated / operational giving, we are still well below where had hoped to be. As of July 31st, we are 19.2% below our 2015 position and 25% below our 2016 fund raising targets. The good news is that there is still time to finish the year strong! Our fiscal year doesn't end until
9-30-16. Please prayerfully consider making a financial gift to Pilgrim Pines. This ministry means SO much to SO many people. While registration income is an important part of the story, we simply don't exist without the generosity of our donors.

Imagine owning a home with hundreds of beds, 96 toilets, multiple electronics, multiple wifi locations, a fleet of vehicles, power equipment, etc.

Pilgrim Pines welcomes volunteers all year long
Whether you come by yourself, with your family or through a church group. We are blessed by volunteers who help in the kitchen, serve as weekend hosts, assist in the Mayflower office and work on maintenance projects.
We can really use some volunteer help now and into the fall as we are clearing some areas of overgrowth in the camping area.
Your church may even be interested in our "
Adopt-a-Cabin" program. When a church adopts a cabin they commit to an annual donation toward its maintenance and often send a volunteer group to specifically tend to their cabin's needs. Contact
