Did you know?

...that in ancient Rome, common law marriages were the norm. Marriage occurred when two individuals agreed to live together and be married, and there were no forms or ceremony required. This is how couples got married until the Catholic church declared that a marriage was invalid unless performed in front of a priest and two witnesses in the middle of the 16th century.

Divorce Roadmap

September 9th, 2016

As we welcome you back from a very hot (and hopefully very resting) summer time, we thought we would introduce this September Newsletter with some philosophical thoughts by noting that September 8th is the world's "Pardon Day".  Mahatma Gandhi said that "the weak can never forgive.  Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."  This cannot be truer than in the context of separation and divorce.  While it may take a long time before you forgive your ex-partner for whatever wrong he/she may have done you, the true completion of your separation process occurs when you can achieve complete forgiveness.  And we certainly wish that for all of our subscribers...

Asking for help is not always easy...

Getting help sounds simple enough. However, when going through a separation/divorce, many people struggle with asking their family or friends for help as they fear of being judged, criticized or blamed. Confiding to your close ones about what went on behind closed doors takes a lot of courage and trust. Many are too ashamed and paralyzed to ask for help or companionship.

Knowing how to help someone going through a separation or divorce can also be very challenging. Most people don't know what to say and don't want to take sides.  If you know someone who is going through a separation/divorce that would benefit from your help, here are a few tips you may wish to consider before reaching out
