Lunch Update from Mrs. Conway

I want to thank all the parents who reached out to me with ideas for lunch for our students after my last email. I sincerely appreciate the support and dedication to our school. At this time we do not yet have a full time program to announce. I am meeting with people constantly and working to find a solution for our school. Thank you to all the parents who have reached out to me to be a positive part of the solution. Thanks to one group of parents, we will start offering Pizza  Friday on the first  Friday of the month, beginning  October 7th
Pizza will be $1 per slice and paid at lunch time. If this is as successful as we hope, our intention is to increase the frequency with the help of more parent volunteers. Please watch for more details coming soon. Thank you so much to our dedicated parents!

Receive Text Message Reminders from O'Hara
O'Hara utilizes text messaging to send important reminders and notifications to our parents.  In order to receive these texts, you MUST OPT-IN to the text invitation that was sent out on Tuesday morning.   If you need help with set up, please stop by the front office.

Dress Code Reminders
Thank you for your assistance in making sure your student is in dress code each morning.

Just a few reminders:
-Socks are not required. If socks are worn, they must be white.
-Belts are not required. If a belt is worn, it must be black, brown, navy or uniform plaid.
-Embellishments are not permitted on any clothing. (No ruffles, accent stripes, lace, sequins, etc.)
-Skirts and dresses must be no shorter than 3" above the knee.
-Shoes must be closed toe and closed heel. No sandals or sandal type shoes, knee-high or calf-high sneakers, high heels or boots.

Mass Dress Requirements
Effective immediately, students will not be permitted to change clothes after Mass. The disruption and delay to our school day caused by the large number of students changing clothes necessitates this new rule. (Students that have PE on Mass days will be permitted to change clothes; and boys will be allowed to remove their ties and store them in backpacks.) Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Choir begins on Monday
Just a reminder that choir begins tomorrow morning; students should report to the music room at 7:30am. If you've signed your student up for choir, please look for an email from Mrs. Leonard with more details. If you have questions, please contact  Mrs. Leonard or visit the  music website .

Thank you to parents who have turned in a piano registration form. If you have signed up your child for piano lessons, please turn in your registration form this week. If you have any questions please contact  Mr. Clabby .

Oregon Battle of the Books
The Oregon Battle of the Books, (OBOB), is a statewide program for reading motivation and comprehension sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries. The goals are to encourage reading for enjoyment, broaden reading interests, increase reading comprehension, and promote cooperative learning. This is a voluntary activity . Students who would like to participate form teams of 4-5 players. Among them, they will read 16 pre-selected books. Each team is required to have a parent coach who will help them organize, read and discuss the books. The coach also asks the students questions about the books in preparation for "battles" which begin at the school level in January. All teams will battle at least twice in the preliminary round. There are two divisions, 3rd-5th and 6th-8th.  Teams may be formed from more than one grade within a division. The top team in each division goes on to the regional and possibly state competitions. For more information please contact Mrs. Booth or Mrs. Gori in the library at ext. 226 or visit the OBOB website.

Instructions for early pickup / s tudent absences
If your student has to leave during the day, please have him/her stop and get an early dismissal slip from the front office. The student should give the slip to the teacher that they will be leaving class from.
If you have a change of plans for pickup,   please email both your teacher and the front office before  11:00 am .   Our teachers check their emails at lunch time. This prevents the front office interrupting classes. Thank you for your help.
