September is busy at Bridges Together!
Here are 4 THINGS you need to know about Intergenerational Awareness Month:

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is signing a proclamation designating September as Intergenerational Awareness Month (IGAM)! (Special thanks to Representative Carmine Gentile, our liaison with the State House.) Mitchell Chester, Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education, has shared information about IGAM as well as Bridges Together's resources in his most recent newsletter. Celebrations have started...but there's more to come! Check it all out here.

Bridges Together Founder and Executive Director Andrea J. Fonte Weaver will give a special talk on Tuesday, September 13 at the Newton Senior Center as part of IGAM . Come one, come all and learn about the "What" and "Why" of Intergenerational Programming. This event is generously sponsored by The Village Bank , and you can register by clicking here or by calling the Newton Senior Center at 617.796.1660.

The Bridges Program Curricula Suite (aka the "Bridges program") was recently named a Generations United Program of Distinction. This designation serves as the U.S. benchmark for intergenerational programs. The Bridges program celebrates its 25th birthday this fall -- what a perfect birthday gift! Experience the power of IG relationships by volunteering with a Bridges program near you.

The Grand Family Faire, our own event for IGAM, is Sunday, September 18 from 9 am to 2 pm at Longfellow's Wayside Inn. Grab your grandchild, child, group of friends or anyone in your circle of love and JOIN US! Pony rides, a hot air balloon experience, food trucks, a "musical petting zoo," old fashioned games and more: Sounds like a great day out, doesn't it? For more information, click here.
