Dear  ,

What difference would it make to you to be able to. ..
  • raise the profile of your organization,
  • draw attention to issues you care about,
  • position yourself or your organization as a reliable source of information?

The Informed Opinions project has already supported hundreds of women across the country to amplify their voices through the media to make a measurable difference on issues they care about. With the support of the Wellesley Institute, we're offering our highly-rated Writing Compelling Commentary workshop, with open registration, available to any women on a first-come, first-served basis in Toronto.

Wednesday, September 28
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Host sponsor: Wellesley Institute
10 Alcorn Ave., Suite 300, Toronto
(A vegetarian lunch will be provided)

This interactive workshop builds women's leadership capacity and enhances their credibility and influence by providing participants with the confidence and tools to contribute their expertise to the public discourse. Hundreds of participants who have embraced the approach to writing compelling, short-form written commentary for newspaper op ed pages and online sites have subsequently earned industry-wide or national profile for themselves and their ideas as a result. Participants will learn to:
  • Own, articulate and position themselves as reliable authorities
  • Build a concise, persuasive and accessible argument in a publishable format
  • Link their expertise to the news to enhance the relevancy of their knowledge
  • Correspond and work with editors and journalists in general
The profile and potential influence that can result from published op eds can't be bought, and the skills and insights learned are applicable to many other persuasive communication opportunities. Many of our previous participants offer testimonials to the impact of our workshops.

We make the workshop available on a sliding scale: the $400 (+hst) registration fee is dropped to $300 for women working in the non-profit sector at an organization with 10 people or more, and $200 if employed by an NGO with fewer than 10 people.

We look forward to the opportunity to support you in amplifying your voice and increasing your impact. If you can't attend this workshop, but are interested in a future session, please let us know.
