VP Fundraising
Responsible for working with volunteers to organize and manage the Fall and Spring Fundraising campaigns to meet budget revenue goals.

Grade Level "Tailgate" Meet & Greets: Mon. 9/19 - Tues. 9/20

Join us between 8:15 AM and 9:30 AM for a meet & greet with other parents in your child/children's grade. We'll meet in the Kelsey Creek parking lot at right after drop-off for a tailgate party with coffee and bagels, doughnuts or pastries.  Stop by to get to know the parents of children in your child's grade to build a strong community! Stay and chat or take a walk with new friends afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Monday Messenger Subscriber Updates: Mon 9/19

If you are a parent from the Class of 2016 and have additional students continuing through International School, please update your profile this week.  We will be removing the email addresses from the graduating lists and we would hate for you to not receive your future Monday Messengers if you still have children attending.

Kick-off Family Dinner & PTSA General Membership Meeting: Tues. 9/27 @ 6 PM!!!

Please register today for a family dinner @ the first PTSA General Membership Meeting of the year.   Dinner is provided free of charge by the PTSA.  By registering we can make sure there is enough food for everyone. RSVP here

Principal Jen Rose will lead off the event with an overview of the year, and her plans for keeping International on top.  PTSA will also outline our goals for the year, including our fall programs with DigiPen, TechSmart, our efforts to start a computer science club, and strategic goals around communications and community. 

Our family dinner is a long standing International School tradition.  Parents and students are welcome to attend.  It's a great way for all families, especially new families, to meet people and learn more about IS. Register today and help spread the word. See you on the 27th at 6 pm.

We hope it will be your home for joining the ISPTSA, volunteering, signing up for the Messenger weekly newsletter and keeping current on what is happening at the school.

1) Create an ISPTSA account or update your current information. We will be using this for directory information. We will also have an online directory which will be available to ISPTSA members.
2) Join the ISPTSA, just click on the link that says Join.
3) Sign up for the Monday Messenger weekly e-newsletter, this is the best way to get the most current information on what is happening at school.
4) Volunteer - There are lots of ways to volunteer, both from home and at school. Parent involvement in creating and staffing programs such as Reflections, Staff Appreciation, Grade level representatives, awarding grants and editing the website is what makes IS unique.
5) Donate - Your donations to the PTSA allows us to invest, approximately $100,000 a year toward the school's mission of academic excellence through a broad spectrum of curriculum extension grants, programs, clubs, and community building.

Mandatory Parent Meeting for Drama Students: Mon. 9/19

This is just a quick reminder for our mandatory parent meeting, right after our 1st rehearsal on Monday, September 19 at 7pm, in the IPAC. 
 
You will get valuable information about rehearsals as well as the requirements and time commitments for putting together "The Tempest" this fall.  
 
We will have sign up sheets available for the various roles, so please remember to bring your calendar.  This meeting should not take more than 30 minutes.

Washington Aerospace Scholars (WAS) is seeking high school juniors who wish to kickstart their STEM careers and earn college credit!

In WAS, students earn college credit by completing online curriculum that focuses on space travel. By completing the online program, students may earn acceptance into a week-long Summer Residency at The Museum of Flight where they will work with professional mentors to plan a mission to Mars, tour engineering facilities, and compete in hands-on engineering challenges. Teachers are also encouraged to apply as evaluators and summer residency facilitators.

Applications for the 2016-17 session of WAS are available HERE and are due by November 4, 2016.

First Lego League Registration Open
 
Titan Robotics Middle School program FIRST Lego League (FLL) now has registration open on our website. Students work with Lego Mindstorm EV3 kits to build and program robots on a 4x8 table to complete challenges and also complete a research project related to this years theme Animal Allies. You can find out more about the program at www.firstlegoleague.org.We do not have the current day and time set as we are still looking for adults to help run the program. Please mark what days and times you are available when registering. We will not have anyone pay until we set the final day and time.

Student Profile / Emergency Release Forms
  
These forms were passed out at Back to Business Day or mailed home to those of you who did not pick them up.  We are still missing many of these forms.  Please return them to the school as soon as possible so that we have the most up to date information on your student in the event of an emergency.  If you need another copy please contact the school registrar, Katherine Parkin and she can print you off a new copy.  Not sure if you turned yours in, call the office and we will let you know.  Thanks!
High School Start Time Feedback

French Exchange
 
"Bonjour! Are you interested in the French Exchange this year? We still have five spots open for high school boys who would like to go to France (March 29 - April 13, 2017). We are gearing up to welcome our French exchange students soon (November 30 - December 15, 2016).  We are in need of five families willing to host a high school French student during their visit here. It is possible to host here in December without going to France in April, although there is availability for both. If interested, please contact Joe Kheriaty at [email protected]. Merci!"

We're looking for possible Focus Week guest teachers.

Did your student attend a cool summer camp? Do you have a friend who teaches something interesting? We are looking to add to our pool of guest teachers for Focus Week and would love to know more. Examples are artisans, chefs, coders, builders, seamstresses, black belts and more. Email Sally Fouche or Lori Hunt with names and a brief background and we'll do the rest. Middle School Golf starts this week!  Want to participate?  Submit your2016-2017 athletics registration through Club Jubilee HERE .

For those girls who participated last year and are now in 9th grade, we invite you to return to the program as a volunteer coach! Register as a youth volunteer with The First Tee HERE. Great opportunity to give back, develop leadership skills, gain community service experience, and spend some time on the golf course!
