Volunteer on the National Colonial Farm this fall by joining the "Colonial Farm and Gardens" group.
Stepping back in time, volunteers will channel creative ingenuity to utilize traditional agriculture techniques in order to maintain culturally diverse gardens of the past.
Among the demonstration areas are the Kitchen Garden, Museum Garden (Garden of Three Continents), and Cate's Garden, each with unique stories to tell.
No previous gardening experience is required.
Ecosystem Farm Workshare
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 8am-12pm
Learn how to grow your own food sustainably when you become a workshare volunteer on the Ecosystem Farm.
Assist with the daily tasks associated with running a vegetable farm. This 8-acre solar-powered farm engages learners of all ages in sustainable practices through a display garden themed, sustainably-minded system. Whether you're interested in fruit forests, skin-care gardens, orchards, wetland habitats, composting, trading labor for veggies, growing fields or planting a window box, the Ecosystem Farm has something for you.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn more about growing food sustainably while enjoying the fruits of their labor by sharing in the produce from the farm. No previous farming experience is necessary.
